    D&D 5E (2014) Damage Spell Scaling

i kind of agree. But casting fireball in a 9th level slot should be badass in my opinion. I would like it to scale at 2d6per additional slot. That’s just my opinion. Still inferior to a meteor swarm. But more respectable damage for a 9th level slot

News Digest for the Week of October 4

Well since it’s open for polite and respectful discussion. If you don’t want to work somewhere then quit. If you don’t think your employer is paying you enough find a job that pays you what you want. If you don’t like the working conditions then quit and find a job that has the conditions you...

News Digest for the Week of October 4

I really think union politics should have no place on this website. This shouldn’t be a platform for such things.

    D&D 5E (2014) Fixing the fighter (I know...)

No. I see alot of experience players prefer the Champion over the battle master because they like the simplicity and that the class feels like the learned today fight on their own through brawling the hard way. Battle master has the feel of a fighter that trained at the equivalent of formal...

    D&D 5E (2014) Fixing the fighter (I know...)

Isn’t that what a warlock does. Spam eldritch blast. I know some people do it differently. But that’s what I watch 90% of warlocks do

    D&D 5E (2014) Damage Spell Scaling

I don’t even thing the wizard was over powered in pathfinder or 2E. I guess if u r balancing it as fighter versus wizard than yes. But not when versus the monsters. But I’m not playing a game to fight other players. I’m playing it to defeat the monsters or encounters. And generally the fighter...

    D&D 5E (2014) Damage Spell Scaling

I think many spells like fireball should gain 2d6 damage per additional spells. In a 9th level slot it would do 20d6. And that is not over the top at that level.

D&D General Is character class an in-world concept in your campaigns?

Those are just examples. That’s not how every NPC has to be. You are not breaking a rule by not using the stats in the monster manual or PHB or dmg for an npc.

and dragons have an even higher point buy. As do many demons and devils and genies. NPC’s are just another critter. That doesnt Mean they are there to slay.

Exactly. You use them as someone to outwit.

D&D General Is character class an in-world concept in your campaigns?

I agree with you. Spell levels exist in my campaigns. It’s just a known hierarchy of spell difficulty. So that surprised me. But I like how you do things differently from one campaign to another. Gotta mix things up a bit and keep players on their toes.

He’s a background character. I like overpowered monsters like elminster. Monsters that can’t be beat by brute force are my favorite for bbeg. Note I said “like elminster”

When I want hit points to be meat I play runequest.

D&D General Is character class an in-world concept in your campaigns?

I miss earlier rules on holy symbols where just presenting a holy symbol would hold an undead at bay. They really have nerfed the effects of things like holy symbols and garlic. And holy water just has not kept up with the hit point bloat over the editions to be as effective.

D&D General Is character class an in-world concept in your campaigns?

Depends on the type of setting. Bards were a type of Druid.

I much prefer a class called berserker. Barbarian can mean way too many things. Some barbarians have avoided violence. I would prefer barbarian as a background.

D&D General Is character class an in-world concept in your campaigns?

Depends what kind of game you are playing. Are the players exploring a setting or are they helping create a setting. Or something in between. If you are exploring a setting The choice is not the players.

D&D General Is character class an in-world concept in your campaigns?

Great post. Yes I agree with the history. Just fluff I don’t like in my fantasy. Well I might use it in a specific campaign. Berserk always bothered. Personally I found it to be a vice and should make a person worse in combat. But that is another topic where the rules are clear and a homebrew...
