    D&D 5E (2014) 1 Damage Die

Actually pulled this idea from a reply to this reddit thread So in this instance HP doesn't get much higher than at start but we also collapse/convert damage into a simple format of 1 Die = 1 Damage i.e. 1d4 = 1, 1d6 = 1, 1d8 = 1, 1d10 = 1 and d12 = 2 "1 damage per die of the effect (d12...

    D&D 5E (2014) Armour as Damage Threshold

I mean this wouldn't make much difference to a Wizard who uses non physical attacks, Fighters often play the position of Meatshield/Line Defence for the harder hitting yet squishy backline anyway

    D&D 5E (2014) Armour as Damage Threshold

Would Exploding Dice level this a bit in the favour of smaller damage die?

    D&D 5E (2014) Armour as Damage Threshold

Another idea would be to significantly increase the damage threshold but instead of completely mitigating damage it would act as Resistance tying it in more with 5e's system, beating this threshold would again negate this Resistance.

I will have to check it out

    D&D 5E (2014) Armour as Damage Threshold

Damage rolls that do not beat Threshold value are negated , those that beat said value do full unmitigated damage. Not sure what values would be best as of yet but this adds some difference between being unarmoured or armoured in fullplate. As a test example: Damage Threshold = Armour AC ÷ 2...

D&D 5E (2014) Campaign inspired by Dominions or Conquest of Elysium

If theres anyone who has played these games, which are essentially upscaled TTRPGs (Mostly referring to Conquest here). Has anyone tried to simulate such scales before? Controlling an entire faction. Where as I'd rather just make it a case of large scale skirmish battles as opposed to being a...

    D&D 5E (2014) A Calculated Critical (Unbalanced... probably)

For some reason I just assumed damage resistance because Ooze but that might not be the case, definitely was still some incredible luck!

    D&D 5E (2014) A Calculated Critical (Unbalanced... probably)

Pity it was an Ooze otherwise that would of been some ludicrous damage with an improv weapon 😂

    D&D 5E (2014) A Calculated Critical (Unbalanced... probably)

I meant more along the lines of setting up situations for critical damage as opposed to just as a chance. But I do see it being too powerful and much prefer the idea of exploding dice, as it adds variation, low value die are more likely to explode for instance. A dagger having a 25% chance to...

    D&D 5E (2014) Epic Level 1?!

I meant as in still keeping that level of mortal peril, keeping you as just another amoung many striking out in the world, just with substantially less plot armor than you'd recieve in E6. You'd still level and gain experience, unlocking class features and such but HP would stay the same and a...

D&D 5E (2014) Starting HP based on Size, Race and Class...

I'm just posing it as question. I don't intend to implement it in my current game. However I would instead offer them choices like this as modular things. Like Lingering injuries, if they wanted there to go relatively "hardcore" with the game.

    D&D 5E (2014) Epic Level 1?!

Level is just a neat way of tracking player progression in the end

    D&D 5E (2014) Epic Level 1?!

So essentially the idea is you take the idea of Epic Level 6 but you stay a similar level of power to a level 1 PC. However you still level up, instead of the power creep race you just get more options and variety as you attain more class levels and access to additional features. It would...

    D&D 5E (2014) A Calculated Critical (Unbalanced... probably)

Exploding dice would be great, I'm seriously considering using that rule

    D&D 5E (2014) A Calculated Critical (Unbalanced... probably)

Taking the highest damage die would definitely keep it balanced with the idea of advantage. Would disadvantage also make you take the lower of the die rolled? At least that would keep it consistent.

D&D 5E (2014) Starting HP based on Size, Race and Class...

Sort of like the Wounds and Vitality variant rule then? I also contemplated making use of Armor as DR but found it reduced low damage weapons to the point of being unusable. Unless I made a point of daggers and such being "Armor Piercing" by getting in and around joints in the armor.

Thats interesting, would these be handled differently from HP?
