D&D 5E (2014) What Do You Think of This Bladelock?

I feel the exact same way. Although I have found that as I increase in level it becomes harder to resist casting other spells instead of hex. Last night was the first time I didn't cast hex in a game (Fly-REST- Fireball, Misty Step)

    D&D 5E (2014) Beefin' Up Monsters!

I am building an encounter with 6 Azers. RAW they have 39 hit points (6d8+12), I plan on giving one 20 hit points (1/6 of the possible if rolled), 28 (1/3), 36(1/2 kinda) 44(2/3), 52 (5/6) and 60 (max). I am still toying with it but I think I am going to give the 20 hit point the 3 cantrip...

D&D 5E (2014) The fall from grace of the longsword

I keep waiting for more feats to support specific weapon groups. Something similar to polearm master. It's only a matter of time before we see: Blade Master Advanatge on Disarm attempts when using a one handed bladed weapon and the ability to the ability to use some of your profiency bonus to...

    D&D 5E (2014) I Failed My Kobayashi Maru Scenario

If you're worried about treating a person like a thing, then have the thing starting acting like a person. D&D is a great way to teach interpersonal skills with kids.

    D&D 5E (2014) Warlocks seem pointless

The way I see it, and what I've seen in play, is that the Bladelock is good in combat (but not as good as the pure fighter types), good at range (but not as good as the best archers) AND can cast a couple spells here or there. It also multiclasses nicely. It may not be the most optimal...

D&D 5E (2014) What Do You Think of This Bladelock?

How's the monk do? Four attacks at 2d6+4 at 5th level with no feat investment. I guess that is the other way around though Monk X/Warlock 1

D&D 5E (2014) What Do You Think of This Bladelock?

I went that route until 5th level warlock. It's real easy to be out of spells after the 1st round of combat. Not that it's a bad thing.....

D&D 5E (2014) What Do You Think of This Bladelock?

Do you really need GWF? That's like a 1/2 point extra in damage right at the cost of 2 or 3 in AC? I do like that the Warlock/Fighter has three "good" choices for fighting style. GWF +1/2 point damage Duelist 1/2 point less damage but +2 AC (shield) Defense Either -2.5 damage and +4 AC or...

    D&D 5E (2014) I Failed My Kobayashi Maru Scenario

I think that's the players need to adapt to the world philosophy and opposed to the world needs to adapt to the players.

    D&D 5E (2014) LAIR ACTIONS

The Lair Actions are independent. They just go on 20. It doesn't "cost" the dragon anything and happens independently from the dragon's iniative turn.

    D&D 5E (2014) I Failed My Kobayashi Maru Scenario

I like this as well. Have Snik appear to them in a dream, pleading for help because his soul is being tortured. The kids can then go on an adventure to free Snik's soul. When successful, the soul could then be reincarnated into anything. I have always had a good time rolling randomly on...

HE could have been the wizard'd familiar. You could have snik's little brother come and look for him and join the party.

That's what we do. Maybe it makes the bard a little better but it's cool with us.

D&D 5E (2014) DMs option: Intelligence for Initiative

If it's an OR, it's gonna only help the wizards. If it's an AND, it may cause people to not totally dump INT. If it's ONLY, than that's a game changer. I think it is a neat twist.

D&D 5E (2014) What Do You Think of This Bladelock?

I went into my build with the attempt to see if I could make a warlock and effective melee character. IME, the warlock is just a notch below the "true" fighters. The straight fighter, paladin and barbarian are all better but the melee warlord is only a little behind them. I think it also...
