Try giving out an item that gives one extra reaction. My rewrite of the fighter gives one extra reaction at level 6 in place of the feat / ASI. Or an extra Bonus Action.

IIRC there's a Dungeon adventure where the 'dungeon' is the innards of a huge construct. Also somewhat similar is a Dungeon adventure where there's a castle on the back of a (living) monster.

If the other players are willing you could MJ their PCs and use movement magic like Dimension Door to move a combat type close to the BBEG then return to your MJ. And who's going to expect the Barbarian to cast Fireball? In a social adventure you could MJ a hapless valet or maid and go to...

This seems to me to be the perfect opportunity for a Bonus Action manoeuvre. After a successful Grapple you may use a Bonus Action to make an opposed Strength check to position the creature you have grappled.
