But isn't it the same in combat in dnd? We make an attack, then fictional reality is undetermined until results of attack known. Plus the character may change reality from opponent being alive to being dead.

To be fair, Micah did apologize for the manipulated reality bit, though I think their concern around 'manipulated reality' does come down tp that player authorship vs DM authorship divide you mentioned previously. On the quantum runes part, not sure what they meant at it or how you feel it is...

Too much effort for me to try and go back to original one. But I think two differing levels of conjecture, with higher probability: 1. It is known runes , but not instantly recognizable but once take a look, may not be common language but one that thebPC does know at least rudimentarily to be...

Without a Rosetta stone though, the initial transactions would sometimes require conjecture i believe. This symbol is here often, so more likely a vowel equivalent. This set of letters is often found on toilets, so likely indicates something to do with toilets, and can build from there. While...

This differs from my view of simulation. My basic English answer would be, when we put into the things we know about, it will output what would occur in a real situation. Whether it tells us how and why is less useful, but often a simulation model is built on understanding why certain things...

And as mathematically equivalent, we could easily convert. If DC 15 is base, then 6 would be unskilled skill number as such for roll under equivalent to GURPS unskilled stuff ( if equal succeeds, else move up one). A dnd skill of +7 would thus be a skill of 13 in a roll under situation. And...

I dont know. I didn't really read @EzekielRaiden example ike that. Being told they are unbribeable - yes I think that is fair, outlining what the character would know. But saying they can't be reasoned with when all the background stuff suggested there should be a reasonable chance of...

What are you reading in 2025?

Having reread the Stand recently, and read Lucifers Hammer, have found i do enjoy portrayals of apocalypse more than the post apocalypse stage. Similar to movies I think, I like beginning or Bird Cage and World War Z, whereas the rest of the films are okay but not as good. If anyone has any...

Similar to the tropes view, I like to play in established settings like Middle Earth, Star Wars, Forgotten Realms or Warhammer where GM and players would ideally have same knowledge / input on what is around / can refer to same documents outside of specific adventure mysteries as such.

I think depends on the group and rules set i think. Some rule sets would push more to advisers, others to subjects as default. In our group we tendvto rotate Who is GM or equivalent from campaign to campaign ( and one shots and everything in between) so often we are advising each other...

I think problem arises if two people have access to same evidence, but come up with two different answers as such- how do people know which is right? You may have had an 84% accuracy rate, but means could still be wrong in this instance. Without being able to show / explain how got to answer...

I think if two people are using two different definitions of a word, then I'm not sure can say they have to deal with consequences of their choice, if in their mind they are defining absolute power differently to you. Louis XIV had a number of key advisers, as I believe most absolute monarchs...

Is likely someone being on ignore impacting you - either you are ignoring a poster or they are ignoring you, you should be able to tell by looking at post numbers. If the post number is jumping by 2 each time then you aren't seeing one sides posts.

    Doctor Which

Having to only pick 3 is hard, as first 5 are all pretty equal to me, along with ten / fourteen, but in end went for Hartnell, being the first and helping launch a successful series, Tom Baker for being the quintessential classic doctor, and Tenth for being around longer than fourteen Tennant...

Power is in your hands too though, if you stop responding to them, then conversation will also stop. To @hawkeyefan point though it does feel that people on both sides are keen to point out perceived inaccuracies of the systems they like, while not wanting their own inaccuracies pointed out as...

D&D General The First Demise of TSR: Gygax's Folly

So in 1982, 2 years before Lorraine Williams was hired, she was already involved in the day to day running? Outside of that not a great defense if saying the reason why the person in charge of tge company wasn't responsible for how it was being run because he chose to go to Hollywood and leave...
