D&D 5E (2024) Should 2024D&D split skills into two categories*

I miss Concentration as a separate skill actually. I think it should be something you get better at if you allot time and effort into it. Also, as far as bad guys go, their Concentration is usually so abysmal they can't maintain a good spell long enough to be effective. But that won't change...

    D&D 5E (2014) Spelljammer 5e Campaign Recaps

What I really, really like about the Academy setting is that I've been able to frame everything the PCs experience as "school" but it's also teaching the players new mechanics at the same time. I spent half a session just showing them nothing but 2nd edition monster statblocks and they loved it.

    D&D 5E (2014) Spelljammer 5e Campaign Recaps

This is the start of our 5e campaign. I never ran SJ back in the day and honestly thought it looked ridiculous. Fast forward decades and this is the wackiness I've been wanting and didn't even know. It's also a complete tonal shift from anything I've ever run before. Some thanks to @Morrus...

D&D General Your last adventure in photos.

I'm starting with SJ Academy from Beyond and making some changes, and then segueing to LoX with more changes, so it will be half homebrew.

A Look at the New Deck of Many Things

Some of the new cards are quite powerful, like permanent flight speed, or telepathy, or ability scores all increase. Some are just meh, and a small amount can actually mess you up. There should probably be one where you get to rewrite the Deck's canon and screw with the DM's story!

A Look at the New Deck of Many Things

I'm going to get it for Roll20. And yeah, the whole book is bursting with ideas. This is what a supplement should look like. Very impressed.

    Are Superhero films dying?

I greatly disliked nearly every DC movie, and had low expectations for The Flash, but I ended up really liking it. Ezra Miller still scares me and that career is probably over, but I thought the film was solid. As for Marvel, I am personally sort of burned out, yeah. They need to slow their...

A Look at the New Deck of Many Things

I think this looks pretty awesome. I haven't used the Deck since the start of 5e, so it's probably high time. And if I use the options presented and make it less scary, I think the canny players who know about the detrimental cards might be more prone to use it. Last time I think they passed...

D&D 5E (2014) No One Plays High Level?

Well, I only run games, don't play, but I find by 10th level the PCs are absolutely as powerful as I want to see them, spells are unpredictable, class powers are strong, and figuring out balanced encounters is difficult. It starts being way more work for me than I enjoy, so if I'm not enjoying...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e - Tales of the Old Margreve (Roll20) Campaign Recaps

I loved it! Had a blast, the players really enjoyed it too. I took a lot of Kobold material and molded it into my own story (and all of Castle Ravenloft!). The campaign ended as if we could pick up next week and keep going (it ends with initiative rolled) but I was ready to try something...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Update: 2024 Rulebooks & Survey Results

I'm running Spelljammer too and haven't seen any particular problems. I even let NPCs so far use laser crossbows and such that you can power up with charges. Seems to fit the theme.

    D&D 5E (2024) Boring things that might mean something…

I guess I'm just old now, but I still miss the monster statblocks from yesteryear that had number appearing and climate/terrain/activity cycle and treasure and diet. Would also love to see a general morale indicator.
