Star Trek Adventures Pre-Order is live

FYI: I emailed their customer service folks to ask how much the Starter Bundle would cost for US shipping, and they said about 20 pounds - so about $26-27, which would put that bundle at around $130ish, delivered.

Star Trek Adventures Pre-Order is live

Thanks for that link. I wonder if that purchase would include the PDF that comes with a purchase of the book. They said they're working through Bits and Mortar to deliver the PDF of the book to folks who buy the physical copy, directly from them or a FLGS.

Star Trek Adventures Pre-Order is live

To confirm: they charged you about $14 for shipping to CA? I'm trying to find out what shipping is for just the book, or the starter bundle, and all I can find is the fixed shipping cost for the cubes.

Star Trek 2d20: Thoughts on the Playtest and Upcoming Releases

I'm curious about what others think about the rules for the new Star Trek RPG from Modiphius, using the 2d20 system. I've read the different versions of the playtest rules and wasn't impressed; however, after playing the Conan scenario for Free RPG Day I understand the system much better and...

It's Some More STAR TREK Minis - This Time The Romulans!

Their minis look great...AND they are ridiculously expensive, coming in at over $50 for 8 of them. Modiphius is getting beaten up pretty badly over their prices on their site's product reviews, too.

What The World Needs Now Is More Gaming Conventions

Agreed. Cons can be a heavy organizational lift, but they're great ways to reward and grow the overall tabletop community. There's a local con for which the organizers do a handful of one-day fundraising game days throughout the year, to help build seed money to get the thing off the ground each...

Check Out Modiphius' Star Trek Miniatures!

They look decent to me. Shame the system isn't better, although maybe they'll clean up the playtest and the final run will be better, and more comprehensible.

D&D 5E (2014) Using Adventures in Middle Earth rules in 5e without using Middle Earth

I can see where you're coming from, to a point, but overall I don't think it's that extreme. I'm okay with a lack of supposed balance, anyway. I'm perfectly okay with, within reason (as defined by what my table and I like, since it's all personal, anyway), imbalance between classes and races...

D&D 5E (2014) Using Adventures in Middle Earth rules in 5e without using Middle Earth

It looks like the vote on the Scholar is "no," and I agree. I get that they were trying to make a Gandalf-esque character, but it falls flat. Unless the GM and that player worked well together, the information abilities of the class wouldn't work well, and as a healer it's pretty lame, too. I...

D&D 5E (2014) Using Adventures in Middle Earth rules in 5e without using Middle Earth

Good points, and thanks for responding. I think the Warrior and Slayer both serve as interesting variants to their PHB versions, and fine substitutions for them, especially if low-magic is desired. For me, I want the niche protection for casters from other classes, and while the Eldritch Knight...

D&D 5E (2014) Using Adventures in Middle Earth rules in 5e without using Middle Earth

I'd like to hear about how you're using the AiME rules (from both the PG and LMG) in 5e games that are not set in Middle Earth. I've 'ported classes, cultures, virtues, journeys, the shadow, and fellowship rules into a new homebrew world, as briefly described below. Classes: I replaced the...

Unlimited Heroic And Ninja Action From Palladium Games

I think my first TMNT character was a wolverine with some good hand-to-hand skills and several large firearms. That game could get pretty gonzo.

[UPDATED] Here's Mike Mearls' New D&D 5E Initiative System

Interesting, and going against norms of social media I will withhold full judgment until I can read his rules in full. At first glance, the idea of typing speed of action in combat to weapon or attack type has virtue. WOD accounted for that in their initiative system in detail in the old...

RPG Crowdfunding News 048: 5E Special – Oath of the Frozen King, The City of Talos, Cities of Sorcer

I am interested in the AbTab "Oath of the..." product, as the things I've seen from them thus far have been of high production quality and have all included interesting content. That said, the main book is only supposed to come in at 40 pages, which seems really slim for $25 for the physical...

    Volo’s Guide to Monsters

5 out of 5 rating for Volo’s Guide to Monsters I picked this up a few weeks ago looking for story fluff connected to iconic monsters, in hopes of finding some inspiration for future stories. The book's perfect for it, and the writers did a brilliant job of connecting that fluff to the mechanics...

    Fantasy AGE Core Rulebook

2 out of 5 rating for Fantasy AGE Core Rulebook I picked this up a while back after reading some good reviews, and while in search of a system that would support a rare magic fantasy world I was developing. What I mean by "rare magic" is that magic is something only a very small slice of the...

Investigating The Horror Of The Chill Role-Playing Game

CNYGamer99 makes some solid points about the game, with which I agree in general. I use Chill for cons and one-offs or short story arc as breaks within longer campaigns, as I think maintaining a horror vibe is really difficult over the long term; thus, I prefer horror games to be short than...
