What do you do for...half elves?

The liger is pretty much my favorite animal.

What do you do for...half elves?

I ignore them, just like I ignore all of the other "half races." In my campaign, humanoid blood doesn't mix.

    Less rolling

I also hate how combat can bog down the gameplay. These are a few tricks that we use at my table: 1. Multiply dice rolls. Instead of rolling six d6's, we roll one and multiply the result by 6. 2. Static initiative. Everyone rolls initiative once per day, and they keep that initiative...

Eldritch Knight core class - help me build

Well, I playtested this design last night, using a 12th level EK. I tested both the spontaneous, Charisma-based version and the spell-preparing Intellience-based version, and I like Intelligence better. Sure, it is not as versatile. But this class does not necessarily need versatility in the...

Eldritch Knight core class - help me build

Yeah, I checked it out...and it doesn't suck. It is currently the version of sorcerer that I am using in my campaign, in fact. But after playing it for a few months, I found too many things in it that I wanted to change (hit dice was too high, BAT was too low, saves didn't feel right, no new...

Eldritch Knight core class - help me build

Why wizard? It is just as easy for a sorcerer to qualify for this PrC, and a bard could be very effective in this class as well (considering all of those crunchy class skills.) Sure, a sorc would have to be 6th level, and a bard would have to be 7th level to qualify (instead of 5th,) but not...

What DO you DO for... Monks?

Pretty basic, really. (i) Full BAT, (ii) No Flurry of Blows, and (iii) add katana to list of monk weapons. Seems to be working pretty well. I also created a feat that would let a monk multiclass with cleric and still be able to take levels of monk. After reading dante's post, I think I will...

Eldritch Knight core class - help me build

Okay, here is the first draft...comment, critique, and feedback are all appreciated. My design notes are below. Core Class: Eldritch Knight Hit Dice: d6 Class Skills: the Eldritch Knight’s class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Bluff (Cha), Concentration (Con), Craft (Int)...

Eldritch Knight core class - help me build

This isn't a bad start, but it is more similar to a core-class version of the Spellsword, rather than the Eldritch Knight. I might glean some of your ideas if I ever decide to make a core class from it. As-written, though, it might be a little too powerful. That's what the bonus feats are for...

Eldritch Knight core class - help me build

While some are under the impression that most of the new core classes should instead be prestige classes (and there is certainly nothing wrong with that point of view,) I think that it should be the other way around...I think that a lot of prestige classes out there should be core classes...

What's the Best Fix for Power Attack?

A way to avoid this problem would be to make it a monster feat...if one were so inclined, anyway. But as per the first sentence in this thread, the point is not to argue about whether or not Power Attack needs fixing in the first place...it is to discuss ways to fix it because you already think...

What's the Best Fix for Power Attack?

The way we fixed it IMC is to simply not allow it to be multiplied on critical hits. But seeing these other options has given me food for thought. Great thread! As-written, the Power Attack feat appears to have been developed by scythe merchants. :)

Which Classes Need Quick Fixes, And What Do You Recommend?

Cleric: too front-loaded for my tastes. Quick Fix: clerics only get one domain at 1st level. They get a 2nd domain at 10th level. Paladin: I've always thought it was shortsighted to think that only the gods who have Lawful Good followers could have divine champions. Quick Fix: IMC, paladins...

    What do you do for...Vampires?

Hmm...well, I know that you were asking Al the Absentminded, but your comment sparked something in my brain and I had this furious need to toss in my opinion. How about this? First, make some changes to the Vampire template, to make a more PC-friendly version of vampire (allowing my players to...

    What do you do for...Vampires?

I am running a desert-themed campaign right now, with a lot of ancient Egyptian flavor. So I made a few tweaks and cosmetic changes to the D20 vampire. - A vampire looks like a dessicated, dried human corpse until he has fed. Each point of Con that he drains from another living creature...

    What do you do for...Vampires?

(Continuing the great "What do you do for" tradition...) Folklore and Hollywood have more flavors of vampire than Baskin Robins has ice cream. What special flavor do you serve at your table?

    Bug Familiars [Now with swarms!]

I really liked Babomb's suggestion of having a swarm of insects as a familiar. Obviously, this type of creature would be too powerful to be a level one familiar, but for spellcasters who have taken the Improved Familiar feat, this would be awesome. So I took the SRD stats for a swarm of...

    Bug Familiars [Now with swarms!]

Excellent suggestions! I'll add 'em to the next updated list. Might have to change 'em up a bit for balance and what-not, but it's all good. Let's see...mosquito? Blood-sucking spreaders of tropical illness...so they should probably have the same stats as a stirge, and give a bonus to saves...

    Bug Familiars [Now with swarms!]

Holy crap...that is awesome! Perfect for this particular nefarious spellcaster NPC that I have in my campaign. It's a bit too powerful to be a standard familiar, though...might have to require the Improved Familiar feat to allow this one. But I like it. A lot.

    Bug Familiars [Now with swarms!]

I like it...I was wanting some school-specific abilities to be linked to these new familiars, since that is really the only thing they have going for them. :) Butterflies are a metaphor for change, and that suits Transmutation perfectly. One of my players pointed out something to...
