    True 20 Combat

As already mentioned True 20 has almost as many combat options as D&D, even a few that aren't in D&D such as the parry/dodge distinction and the finesse attack rules in Conan. The difference is that True 20's combat options don't focus the player on tactics and book keeping which have a tendency...

If you were to add rolling for damage to True20...

I mentioned this on True 20 forums, though the flip to a Damage Roll works, be careful as it means Conviction can't be used to resist damage which is important for the True 20 system. If you do the flip, I would allow PCs to use Conviction on opponent's damage rolls and not on their own damage...

How hard would it be to use Damage Save in a normal d20 game?

Be warned, the main reason the Damage Save works well in True 20, Blue Rose and M&M is Hero Points/Conviction. Being able to reroll that Damage Save allows a player to avoid untimely injuries. A Damage Save without these points is quite different in feel.

    True 20 Combat

I have to side with Akrasia here, though this is a balance of preference . D&D deals with combat by covering every aspect of it with rules. This is where D&D looses me to be honest. I can understand the need for certainty but there is a point where certainty actually encourages a tactical...

    True 20 Combat

True 20 combat is fast and furious compared to D&D. It still has many of the same options (plus new ones) but it removes or changes those combat elements that revolve around book-keeping and strategy. For example, Dodge simply adds a +1 to Dodge rather than to a selected designated dodge...

    True 20 Combat

I on the other hand like my fantasy to be fast and furious like in the Lord of the Rings movies with heroes mowing down mooks, moving freely and hi-octane action. Strategic combat elements are considered a pain in our group :)

    D&D 3.5 to True 20 conversion

Wouldn't it be easier to have True 20 just replace D&D3.5e wholesale? The only real aspect of difference in substance between the two is the magic system. However, True 20's covers much of D&D's and is overall more streamlined. So I would say that True 20 covers much of the same ground as D&D...

    True20 and Modern Games

Nice points Byrons_Ghost. I would just like to iterate that True 20 Adventure Roleplaying is designed to capture an adventurous feel. For example, Skills have been simplifed to focus on what the PCs are good at and not worry about lesser skills. Another result is a "floor" to how weak a PC...

    True20 and Modern Games

Something like this would be a quick fix: Fixer Role Combat Bonus: As Adept Saves: As Adept Reputation: +2, increase +1 every 3 levels Skills: 4+ Int Feats: Wealthy choose 3 from General and Fixer. Fixer Feats Careful Spender (N), Connected (G), Contacts (G), Fame (N), Fascinate (E), Inspire...

    True20 and Modern Games

Hmm, what about changing the focus slightly from social ability (which is really covered in Skills) to social standing i.e. a "Fixer" Role. This may suit True 20's existing ethos better. If you add in a level progressing Wealth bonus which this new "Fixer" Role exceeded in then together Wealth...

    True20 and Modern Games

This is a fine approach. However, I again note that this is not really tweaking True 20 so much as taking a significantly different approach. In True 20, the Expert is not "the Brain". It is the Skill Role. Both Mouth and Brain are both covered by Skills in True 20/D20. As such, you would need...

    True20 and Modern Games

This is where you get to with True 20 if you remove the Adept Role. The Warrior Role (offensive) and Expert Role (defensive) where both can take the Wild Talent Feat.

    True20 and Modern Games

Exactly right. If you have no FX in the setting then simply remove the Adept class. It is easy to tailor the system to get different levels of FX. If you want it to be always wild, remove the Adept Role and allow the Wild Talent Feat. If you want to have low level magic, restrict the Adept Role...

    True20 and Modern Games

True 20 does not split the roles this way though. True 20 Roles are actually designed along the lines of a classless system. The idea is that the roles have very little impact on the actual concept that one creates with them. Instead, they ensure mechanical balance for those who specialise in...

    True20 and Modern Games

True 20 Experts cover all skills not just those relating to intelligence. In D20, this includes all charisma based skills. My own opinion is that if you have no FX then you only need the 2 roles Warrior and Expert. In fact, I would even look at going with just the Expert and creating 5 combat...

Vitality Damage and Damage-based Special Attacks

That is how it works in SW IIRC. The fact you take Vitality Point damage (rather than Wounds) is inherently the thing that lessens the effect of the attack and has the effect you are looking for.

    Eberron True 20

Unequal stat adjustments are OK if they get other benefits to counter this. Otherwise I agree. It would be simple enough to change these to suit True 20.

    Eberron True 20

I intend to do it, though I am in the process of getting a copy of Eberron at the moment, so I am going from memory. I have read through Eberron and know the basics but full d20 discouraged me from proceeding at the time. Your comments on Dragon marks look cool. I will think on it. As for the...

    True 20 -- races/backgrounds?

That's cool. I am currently tackling all these porblems myself and I am happy with how easy True 20 is to modify for things like new races and also slightly different concepts like Jedi.

    Eberron True 20

Magic items is a number one concern, but I think True 20 deals with it. My hope is to strip the Artificer's class abilities as new Adept only feats. Personally, I find the D&D magic item system too complex. In True 20, all magic item creation is a Craft Skill check by someone with the Imbue...
