I think that's just a poor foreshortening thing - her right elbow is bent directly away from the "camera" (try to reach your butt, you'll see). I don't think that the picture is wrong, it's just that it looks that way from what would be, if it were a real picture, an optical illusion.

D&D 5E (2024) When are we getting announcements for 2026 books?

Honestly hoping for that! I think, IIRC, one of the Radiant Citadel ones took place at the Citadel. Either that, or the RC bit had its own adventure. Basically the same thing. But yeah, Yawning Portal is far more a feature in Dungeon of the Mad Mage than it is in Yawning Portal - though I think...

D&D 5E (2024) When are we getting announcements for 2026 books?

I mean, that would have been an excellent place to have thrown in twenty or thirty one-off missions, and a short follow-up sequel adventure. Can you imagine if they just made a whole slew of sites in the area with hooks, both in town and around? I know that several people used the Essentials Kit...

D&D 5E (2024) When are we getting announcements for 2026 books?

Yes, it did a fine job. My only thing would be - and I'm not in any way meaning to put down anthologies - is that I think that a better way to do it, would be to expand a single adventure (of any size) to fill a whole book, with subplots and sequels, rather than the (I think clever, but...

D&D 5E (2024) When are we getting announcements for 2026 books?

I think that they did, perhaps, too many long-form adventures in 2014-2023, but I hope that the lesson learned from it is not to do too few of them going forward. OTOH, to this day, I wish that they'd learn how to (and how not to) really polish up and expand on classic adventures. Phandelver &...

(5.24 PBP) Vault Redux (OOC) Fitz's Refresher

What a week. Much too busy. At any rate, I'll get things updated in the next few hours. Last chance if you haven't posted! I'll robo-you if I have to!

I hadn't known that either, or if I did once long ago, I'd forgotten. But look!

D&D General Fall of Netheril- The Return of the Arcane Age Subsetting

Shrug. I think that if you have material that was, in early development, meant to go in a book, but it's decided that it will be offered as a "DLC" (why are we still calling it that?) then you're also given permission to go further out than you otherwise would. Sure, this is speculation, but...

What are your thoughts on TTRPGs with non-standard dice?

I can tell you that while I've personally enjoyed them, as a retailer I find it somewhat difficult to sell games that use "funky dice". I think one of the mistakes is the NUMBER of dice used. The less dice your system uses, the funkier they can be, because the expense of getting enough for the...

D&D General Fall of Netheril- The Return of the Arcane Age Subsetting

Yes, that's my point. But there's only so much of rejected content that can be polished up to "prime time", so I'm inclined to think that if they came up with THREE that they felt would work, then it's going to be three. Had it been four or more, then they would have announced four or more...

D&D 5E (2014) Alternate Covers of Upcoming Forgotten Realms Books Revealed

Yeah, but they keep this very basic marketing strategy for themselves and leave it up to the rest of us to eat into our margins or lump it.

D&D General Fall of Netheril- The Return of the Arcane Age Subsetting

Why do you think that there will be a ton of "DLCs"? I think that if they announce 3, then you can expect 3. I also think that there being DLCs is just someone's idea of how to monetize material that was developed for the books, but didn't fit. Apparently, it's common that they develop a ton...

D&D 5E (2014) Alternate Covers of Upcoming Forgotten Realms Books Revealed

I wish that they would understand that when they do a slipcase boxed set of 3+ books, that the MSRP should be 10-20% less than the sum of its contents. The last few boxed sets, IIRC added up to exactly the sum of their contents. You get the slipcase for "free", I suppose, and I know that it...

    (IC) Dog Days of Doom!

Stratus held the coffin-lid down with all his weight for a moment or two before concluding that there was either no undead inside, or it was too weak to lift the lid. He let go when Max reported skeletons ahead. He spoke in hushed tones, declaring, Let us take care of them before we open any...

(OOC) The Dog Days of Doom

Seems logical to me to check out the unsecure (open) direction before opening any doors, which is why I figured north - then yeah, backtrack to doors.

    (IC) Dog Days of Doom!

"I will try to block anything that might come from that sarcophagus," offered Stratus, "While you continue forward." He then slipped around the corner and placed his shield arm down on the lid, trying to brace himself against anything that might try to break out.
