    D&D 5E (2014) Dark Sun, problematic content, and 5E…

Some people inside the Matrix can subconciously perceive it's not real and choose to leave, iirc. It's not as real as reality for them, although it is for most people, the way the Architect designed it.

    D&D 5E (2014) Dark Sun, problematic content, and 5E…

Does Dark Sun have slave armies, or slaves being used as guards or security? Like, would PCs be expected to have to kill some slaves to take out their masters?

    D&D 5E (2024) New Wild Shape

In OneD&D, the "Class features" part is after all the hit points/proficiency/armor training stuff, so they shouldn't count for that. Edit: At least the ones granted by the base class.

    D&D 5E (2024) New Wild Shape

I'd bet they're less played more for complexity and just having annoying things to deal with, like the metal armor thing, wildshape needing to look for statblocks and have seen them in-game, prepared spellcasting with a lot of concentration, summoning spells being annoying to deal with, etc. The...

    D&D 5E (2024) New Wild Shape

Wildshape plus Pass Without Trace did make Druids very insane scouts/thieves/infiltrators. I get the need to nerf Druids, they're definitely one of the strongest classes (I'd put 'em at number 2 myself), but the new Wildshape just seems a bit uninspired to me.

    D&D 5E (2014) Invisible Stalkers and Grapples

Unlike the normal Air Elemental, the Invisible Stalker doesn't have the Air Form ability that lets them squeeze through 1 inch or enter another creature's space, so I'd say they're physical enough to grapple someone. Purely RAW, I don't think anything stops them either way, besides maybe the...

D&D 5E (2014) Does the 3rd Tier of Play at Level 11 Make Sense?

I believe the 6th level spells is when you start to get the really reliable long range movement stuff, like Wind Walk to travel hundreds of miles a day, Transport Via Plants to teleport around the globe, and Word of Recall to instantly teleport back to safety. You do get Teleportation Circle at...

D&D 5E (2014) The challenges of high level adventure design.

I figured this thread was more about just writing adventures in general for T4, a DM can obviously just design it with their specific PCs in mind. Planar travel is something a party might just not have, in which case it's either a detour they need to make to get some help, or not a problem at...

D&D 5E (2014) The challenges of high level adventure design.

From what I recall, we needed the Sorcerer to Plane Shift us there. Dealing damage is all good, but only if you have people that can actually get you to where you need to be. Making adventures happen in other dimensions, or on the other side of the planet, or inside a giant forcefield'd...

D&D 5E (2014) The challenges of high level adventure design.

High level characters aren't necessarily super hard to make adventures for, a party of Champion Fighter, Berserker Barbarian, Assassin Rogue and Open Hand Monk could probably go on a low level adventure and have things be fine as long as you buff the enemy numbers accordingly (you might need...

    D&D 5E (2014) Revel's End... magi-tech that jumps the shark!

The 5e DMG has Antimatter Rifles and Laser Pistols as well.

D&D 5E (2024) If the surveys are not read (+)

I recall Jeremy Crawford stating explicitly that they read every single thing people write on the surveys, so if they don't even read anything it's gonna be a big yikes.

D&D 5E (2014) What Is The Value of Stunning Strike?

Ki is 1 per level, same as Sorcery Points, but come back on a short rest, so could be 1 to 1, 1/2 or 1/3, etc, depending on how many short rests you're having. You can turn 2 SP into a 1st level slot, so 1 Ki could be worth as little as 1/6 of a 1st level slot, which honestly could be the case...

Pathfinder 2E PF2 monster making resources

I usually use: PF2e Monster Tool To make the statblock, it can give suggestions for the type of creature you wanna make (say, low, moderate, high or extreme AC for its level), and you can import an official monster and edit it.

    D&D 5E (2014) The Gloves Are Off?

We got Rogues fast enough to hold a dynamite stick and dodge the point blank explosion, I'm sure a Wizard can counter a spell in a split second.

    D&D General The DM Shortage

A Medicine check can't even be used to heal someone with Healer's Tools, you need the Healer feat for that, and it ironically doesn't use the medicine skill at all, it just happens.

D&D General DM Says No Powergaming?

An Adult Red Dragon has 256 hp, and Bard clearly crit and also hit the weak spot Bilbo told him, I think it's fair to say he had vulnerability in that one place, so he could make do with just 64 damage in one hit with all the dice. Smaug also clearly spent all his Legendary Resistances...

D&D General DM Says No Powergaming?

An Ancient Red Dragon has 546 HP. A 1st level Magic Missile deals on average 10.5 hp, so you could kill it in one turn with just 52 first level Wizards. A good investment, I'd say.

D&D General DM Says No Powergaming?

I've actually ran something similar to this with a discord bot a few days ago, normal goblins vs red dragons. To kill an young red in 1 turn, it took 100 Goblins. 150 for an Adult, and 550 for an Ancient. Although the goblins statblock at least has bow proficiency and ok dex, so they're a bit...
