D&D 5E (2024) New One D&D Playtest Includes 5 Classes & New Weapon Mastery System

Level 20 Wizard about to spend 2k gold to cast Mind Whip from 690 feet away, at-will. 🙃

D&D 5E (2014) Martials should just get free feats

Instead of giving them a free Great Weapon Master feat, Fighters can get: And with their extra attacks they can get something similar to the Bladesinger feature to swap attacks for cantrips so they can spam that.

    D&D 5E (2014) Lava and magic items

I think it's usually better to not damage equipment, most AoE effects in the game don't do it (except maybe Meteor Swarm, weirdly enough). Most items are very squishy as well, even resilient large ones are at 27 HP, you could break giant armor by punching it for a minute (and don't even get into...

D&D 5E (2014) Martials should just get free feats

I don't have the D&D Next playtest documents to check if it's legit, but this post on Reddit goes over the design goals that WoTC had for the 5e Fighter. With those in mind, I doubt it was their intention to make them so much weaker than Wizards in the end. Edit: Although they 100% didn't...

    D&D 5E (2024) Spells. What needs adjusted?

Yeet Shield into the stratosphere. Spells that deal damage over time probably need to be limited to when a creature moves into them with their speed/action/reaction, like with opportunity attacks, or start their turn there. Knocking people in and out of Spirit Guardians or through Spike Growth...

    D&D 5E (2014) Creative Surgery

Characters can be knocked out for hours by blunt force trauma and wake up completely fine with no medical assistance, their bodies just work in mysterious ways. It'd be cool if the Medicine skill could actually be used to heal, would help with situations like this.

    D&D 5E (2024) Fighter brainstorm

The only monsters that'll really have vulnerabilities to physical damage consistently are skeletons. It's good to keep a blunt weapon in arm's reach since they're quite common, but it's hardly a big design advantage for characters with a lot of weapon proficiencies. Edit: Biggest advantage...

    D&D 5E (2024) Fighter brainstorm

For bludgeoning vulnerabilities, it's mostly skeletons, along with an Ice Mephit, a mirror Fey thing, and a stone cursed. There's a baloon in Spelljammer that is weak to piercing, and Rakshasas as well if the attacker is good and has a magic weapon. None to slashing in general, just the...

    D&D 5E (2024) Fighter brainstorm

For the others, there seems to be one that's immune to bludgeoning, an artifact from Tasha's, Mighty Servant of Leuk-o. None immune to piercing that I can find.

Seems to be exactly 2, Black Puddings and Ochre Jellies (and their variations).

    D&D 5E (2024) Fighter brainstorm

If you have the Shield Master feat and the Dueling Fighting Style to go sword and board, then you find a good magic greatsword, you're basically throwing away two features. Having a lot weapon proficiencies doesn't necessarily make you that versatile since feats and fighting styles can still...

    D&D 5E (2024) Fighter brainstorm

The issue with armor and shields is that it's very, very easy to get them with multiclassing in 5e, and One D&D is just making it even easier to get them with a level 1 feat. It's not a big advantage in terms of class features overall, often casters will have AC higher than Fighters since they...

    D&D 5E (2024) Fighter brainstorm

I see it all the time people saying that high level spells should be overpowered since they're, ya know, high level spells, and you get at them at the super late level of 13, where the Fighter is getting . . . Indomitable x2, I'm sure that compares to Reverse Gravity or Teleport. I don't think...

    D&D 5E (2024) Fighter brainstorm

There are a lot of issues with the Fighter that have to do with the system itself, skills not doing a ton, saving throws scaling horribly, power attack feats outperforming other weapons by a lot, etc. I think just adding more uses for skills would fix a lot of the problems, and make them...

D&D 5E (2014) Martials should just get free feats

Feats and ASI should really be completely unrelated, you could get both at the normal levels. Would help, but the issues with a lot of classes usually are more than what feats can really fix.

The Last of Us (HBO Max)

My issue with it is mostly that show Joel had been more realistic until that point, killing so many armed people by himself seemed a bit much for him. In the game, you spend the whole time killing bandits, soldiers and infected by the dozens, so you're more used to it at that point.

The Last of Us (HBO Max)

It is great that a new generation of viewers can join the Joel alignment wars, at least.

The Last of Us (HBO Max)

Good show overall, definitely very rushed at places, and Joel's massacre at the end felt a bit out of place in the context of the series. The game is already so cinematic that it's very easy to compare it to the show, I think that hurt it for me.

    D&D 5E (2014) Dark Sun, problematic content, and 5E…

You can't have your body hijacked by an Agent on a whim, I guess. It is real pain in a way, being hurt in the Matrix can hurt you in the real world, but in the end it is indeed all fake, that's why Neo and Trinity can bend reality and resurrect people, they're just the ones that can see...
