WotC So, when do the announce the July book? Guesses on what it'll be? 🤔

So far we know about/have already been released: Candlekeep Mysteries = module anthology Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft = D&D campaign setting I’m thinking for July we will see a new Volo’s/Mordenkainen’s type book, with dragons featuring prominently.

D&D 5E (2024) bring back the pig faced orcs for 6th edition, change up hobgoblins & is there a history of the design change

Barbarian Horde as a contrast/comparison to the vastly more regimented society of the hobgoblins. Not in the context of morality. I don’t care if orcs were originally created to be villains and nothing else. I perceive orcs as a humanoid species, therefore I think it is more interesting to...

D&D 5E (2024) bring back the pig faced orcs for 6th edition, change up hobgoblins & is there a history of the design change

Orcs - I completely disagree. Orcs behaving/becoming more and more like humans is far more interesting in my opinion than having orcs just be some monstrous threat. Hobgoblins - Um... 5e basically flavored these guys as the fantasy Roman Legion to the orcs’ Barbarian Horde. That makes them...

D&D General How would you finish Jeff Grubb's unpublished TSR setting - Storm Front?

Sounds a lot like the Toxic Seas project over on Giant in the Playground a few years back.

    D&D 5E (2014) Unearthed Arcana: Draconic Options

Reply to OP. Chromatic Dragonborn You can use your breath weapon a few more times a day and it does more damage. That’s good, although it would have been better if they had just kept the original d6s of damage but let you use this trait as a bonus action. Not a fan of damage immunity. That’s...

D&D General How has gaming impacted your life?

Having a game to look forward to every two weeks kept me from committing suicide. I wish I was joking, but I’m being completely serious. Getting to play D&D 5e was literally the only good thing to happen in my life from early March to late April of 2016.

D&D General UPDATE: this isn't greenlit : Jeff Grubb's Lost Mystara Sourcebook To Be Released

That actually sounds like a pretty cool product in my opinion, even if it is only a first draft. An elven war in the Canolbarth Forest? That’s a neat idea. Certainly better than anything I was considering doing with Alfheim, in the event I get to run a Mystaran campaign in the future.

D&D General What published module have you run or played the most?

D&D? Tyranny of Dragons & Curse of Strahd. Both only once. I didn’t like CoS at all.

D&D General Friday Fun: Merge Two Monsters

The Centimage, a large-sized monster with the body of a centipede, but it’s legs are like the arms/front legs of a frog. It can cast magic spells, but due to the mesmerizing sight of multiple arms and hands doing so, any attempt to dispel or counterspell is made at disadvantage.

D&D 5E (2014) What is your definition of a Vanilla setting

I described Eberron to my group as a D&D Noir-Pulp Mirror Universe. After just two sessions, they said it was a pretty good to explain that world.

D&D 5E (2014) What is your definition of a Vanilla setting

In theory, Greyhawk. In practice, the vanilla setting I experience as a player and not a DM tends to be a zombie outbreak scenario set in actual medieval Europe... With the Ottoman Empire being made up of hobgoblins.

    D&D 5E (2014) Monster Adoption

FIRST EXAMPLE I played a genderfluid wood elf beastmaster ranger in one campaign. The DM decided to rolled for a random encounter. Result was an owlbear. I declared my intention to adopt it as my animal companion on the spot. DM had me make an Animal Handling check. I passed, so the DM had...

    D&D 5E (2014) Revising Classic Settings

The expectation I always got from the original boxed set was that you would be fighting against that systemic slavery and exploitation. In Dark Sun, the current status quo is the real enemy, and your job is to kill it one sorcerer-king and defiler at a time. Honestly, I think it’s the one...

D&D General How Was Your Last Session?

We prevented an undead lycanthropic plague from breaking out in the city, all while most of the party was still thoroughly sloshed after a wild celebration over our previous mission. Patient zero was... a chicken. The rogue (in the infinite wisdom brought on by being under the influence)...

DDAL Adventurers League seeks your input, even if you do not play AL.

Took the survey. Never played in Adventure’s League, although I have looked through some of the modules written for it. As for the settings: Dark Sun, Spelljammer, Dragonlance, and Mystara.

D&D General What setting books have you used in your latest campaign.

As someone who didn’t like the Guildmaster’s Guide to Ravnica at first, I’ve since come around to using it as a resource for other settings. EBERRON I took everything official about House Vadalis, tossed it out and replaced it with the Simic Combine from Ravnica. It’s still House Vadalis in...

D&D 5E (2014) Next (3rd book of the year) endless speculation thread

What I hope to see this year at the very least: Candlekeep Mysteries (module anthology) Van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft (campaign guide to classic setting) Volo’s/Mordenkainen’s type with an emphasis on dragons and fey (plus new PC races) the latest Magic: the Gathering World (crossover...
