ok, so with that feat, your cohort's maximum level becomes 18. The Leadership table goes pretty high, and the final entry is "25+ Leadership", which notes a maximum cohort level of 17, or 18 with that feat.

That puts a definite cap on how high it is worth pumping your Leadership. Looking at the table, there's also an absolute maximum of 17th level for any cohort, regardless of your Leadership score. Leadership score is generally equal to level + Charisma modifier. A +5 bonus at 19th level (slowly...

    Enworld newsletter

I received another one this morning. I did not subscribe to this. When i originally joined this forum, I cleared any options that would have subscribed me to a recurring newsletter ("administrative contact only" is my usual choice where available). About a year ago, ENworld also started...

    How strict with Hide checks?

A 3x4 room with 6 dretches? How far did he get into the room before he noticed it was half-full of dretches/ Last time I checked, dretches don't have hide in plain sight or invisibility. What's good for the goose is good for the gander after all. If I were playing fair, those dretches would...

Would these two feats mix well?

I'd read this as: "You get either your Int modifier or your Dex modifier, plus your Dex modifier".

    Differences between BECMI/RC

I'd suggest going for option c: Dark Dungeons. It's basically a retclone of BECMI and RC that irons out the differences and standardises some of the optional extras that came in the various gazetteers.

[3.5] Using the Hide skill to "hide" your tent. Avoided Assassin... Legitimate?

I'd say it probably takes ten minutes to set up one or two-man tent. So if the rogue has three hours to spare, sure he can take 20 on his check to set up his tent in a hidden manner. Remember boys and girls, take 20 takes 20 times longer.

    Wall of Fire Horizontally?

While I normally am in favour of allowing house rules, letting wall of fire be cast horizontally would mean that no one would ever want to cast it vertically again.

    Brainstorming on spell fixes

How hard would Persistent Spell suck if it was changed to alter the duration by one 'step' (rounds/level > minutes/level > 10 minutes/level > hours/level)? It'd require a bunch of side notes to explain spells with unusual durations, but could be manageable.

    Brainstorming on spell fixes

This reminds me of a simple change I have long proposed for spell saving throws. Rather than make the DC 10 + spell level, it is a flat DC 15 check. Spell resistance is not affected by this change. This makes spell saving throws more closing mirror how they worked in 1e/2e games.

    D&D 3.x Action Points. (3.5)

I use 5 + 1/2 character level + Charisma modifier as a maximum total of action points for a character. They get replenished to this on levelling up. I did some maths some time ago too. Based on the idea of 13 1/3 encounters per level-up and 4 encounters per day, in theory they should all...

    Two Weapon Fighting Ranged/Melee

More used logic... RL knights did train from a young age to use a sword, and almost without exception they trained only to use the sword with their primary hand. Significantly more in the medieval ages fought left-handed, as the culture of forcing left-handers out of the habit had not yet been...

D&D 3.x 3.5 use of fly spell questions

Not really. An empathic link is basically just transmitting emoptions. So the horse is continuously relaying "I am bricking myself  ", while the paladin is at best relaying "Woohoo  ". Actual instructions and reassurance need to be done the conventional way.

    Full attack/flurry while grappling?

Reading the SRD, it would seem that maintaining a grapple is an attack action that, if successful, lasts an entire round. if you have multiple attacks, either from flurry or from high bab (or both), you can use one of those attacks to maintain the grapple, and the rest to attack with.

Background Feats for "Former Priest" trope?

Iron Heroes has the Child of Faith background trait (an IH background trait is basically a 1st level only feat) which does more or less exactly what you require.

    Tracking Armor as Damage Reduction

Eh, I dunno. I personally think that not dying is it's own reward. If players forget to apply their DR, that's their loss.

    forum layout issue

Are there any plans to fix the horizontal alignment of the messageboards dropdown menu? Currently, it is shifted so far to the right that almost half of it falls off the screen and cannot be accessed (attempting to scroll doesn't work, since then the dropdown loses focus and vanishes).

    D&D 3.x 3.5 monk...lawful = disciplined?

The Buddha that can be met is not the true Buddha. You must strike down your illusions.

    D&D 3.x 3.5 monk...lawful = disciplined?

Actually, the original D&D monk was written to fill a specific role within the Greyhawk campaign setting, where they were typically senior members within the social order of the Scarlet Brotherhood. It had as much to do with real-life monks (of any variety) as the D&D cleric did with any...

    Help me nerf the druid

Why not just ban the Natural Spell feat? Even without splatbooks, it's is the most obviously broken feat in existence. I agree with you in general on the "no absolute immunities" thing though (except really obvious things like fire elementals vs fire)
