Special Conversion Thread: Finishing off the oozes

Replenishing from the wall is an idea I could buy. If these guys climbed back into the wall when they were not in use it could "refuel" them. If the wall carried around burning zombies and spat them out during (or prior to) combat, I'd be sold on the idea of them lasting forever (or until...

Special Conversion Thread: Finishing off the oozes

I was actually agreeing with your idea. I don't especially mind if they never "burn out". I just think that, as they are not elementals, they shouldn't burn forever. ...and... Fire immunity would probably work. But the burning fluid of the Carnivorous Wall can not last forever. Either...

Special Conversion Thread: Finishing off the oozes

Thanks for that. I was thinking of a flavor thing rather than an ability. I think that anything that happens during combat should be an ability and anything that takes days, weeks or months doesn't happen in front of PCs so can usually be flavor text. The treasure of this wall could...

Special Conversion Thread: Finishing off giants and their kin

On armor: I concur with this. They have thick skin and don't wear much. On weapons: ...and... Could we not do both? Most Bosk Giants could have great clubs, but the most intellegent ones could "whittle" themselves the uber-morningstar. A GM could then put down 5 Bosk Giants and give the...

More SJR7 blurb on Giants I've copied this stuff from SJR7 as I think it might help with the conversion process:

If other giants drop them, then it is best to copy that. I think we need to look at the mechanics and see which are important to the creature and which are more about the edition it came from. But if people think this is something that can be cut, I'll go along with that. It still might be...

Newsflash: ENWorld moderator finishes off trolls.:p Yay! Are we doing different stats for the Infant Bosk Giant, Juvenile Bosk Giant and Adult Bosk Giant? They do have these differences: "An infant has 10 HD and has only a +4 damage bonus. A juvenile at 12 HD has a +6 damage bonus." I think...

Special Conversion Thread: Finishing off the oozes

IMO, this shouldn't be a wall that is "carved into reliefs of tortured faces and bodies fused together in a hideous mass" it should actually be "made from tortured faces and bodies fused together in a hideous mass". The wall should have an ability that is an alternative to creating Burning...

Converting Creatures from Other Campaign Settings

Do all spiders get tremorsense? If so give it to these guys. If only some spiders get tremorsense then we need to work out why some do and some don't. I think the webbing and forlegs should be built into the spider's treasure. Webbing could probably be gathered without killing the spider (so...

    Paging Echohawk...

This parrot is obviously supposed to be a Norwegian Blue.:p Are we going to do it as a serious thing or ham it up?:devil:

It looks great. Would someone tell the next monster in line to slide over to the conversion counter.:p

I re-read this bit too. I originally misunderstood this bit, and you had it spot on.

    Advanced Bestiary's question

If a creature has too many arms it would be top heavy. The template should really have some of maximum built into it. I'd think that a creature with something like 20 pairs of legs should convert into a creature more like a centaur, with some arms, but some legs staying as legs.

Converting Creatures from Other Campaign Settings

Hmm. If the Silver Spider is only supposed to detect spellcasters, you might have to make a modified Dweomersight that detects uncast spells. A sense that picks up the magical version of "potential energy". Both of these are good. The Silver Toxin reminds me of the Softwood spell from...

    Converting monsters from Imagine Magazine

I was mainly getting at having a creature that was a lot shorter than a wererat (i.e. as short as the size category permits). But using a halfling as the base creature could be fun. They are probably too short to eat an entire human or elf anyway!:p How would that look if you bumped the size...

At least it isn't a "mouse dragon". That would be much more complex.;) I don't see an exact size in the original blurb. Can we make these guys the "hobbits" of the lycanthrope world?

    Converting monsters from Imagine Magazine

Birch Tree Spirit typo I wonder how you could continue with a game where everyone went insane. Anyhoo. Great work guys. I only saw one misake and it was my fault. The first sentence in the Hierophobia ability is mangled. It should say: "As part of the ritual..."
