D&D General Why Do You Prefer a Medieval Milieu For D&D? +

My response is very short and sweet: I'm familiar with it because it was in the books I grew up reading.

    D&D 5E (2014) What level should I make this invocation: At-will Shatter

Voice of Shagaroth Your Eldritch Blast deals double damage to objects. Maybe make it so it only works against objects that aren’t being carried or worn if it’s too OP.

    D&D 5E (2014) What level should I make this invocation: At-will Shatter

Hideous Blow! I miss that so much. That would have been great on a Hexblade Warlock in 5.0

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal #2: "New Fighter"

Like TCE pgs 46-47 crossed with 3.x feat chains? That would be nice if it were in the upcoming PHB24, but I suppose it would depend on how much page count they had to devote to Fighters. Maybe they'll do something similar in a future splat book.

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal: Shape of "New Druid"

Which I can easily see being equal to the Druid’s Spell Attack Bonus and Spell Save DC. Hopefully we’ll find out later this week when the article goes up on DDB. EDIT: Oops, I was thinking of the Warlock article going up later this week

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Warlock"

Not to mention the Barbarian, Monk, Paladin, and Ranger only ever get 2 attacks.

    D&D 5E (2024) Collage of Dance Reveal

[sigh] If you have to explain a joke, it’s probably not funny. You see kids, these are both Patrick Swayze roles. Johnny Castle is from Dirty Dancing and represents the College of Dance Bard. James Dalton is from Road House and represents unarmed strikes.

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024+ Monster Statblock options

Or they could go the computer programming route with: Burst of Ingenuity (2/day): If the Sphinx or another creature within 30 feet makes an ability check or saving throw, then the Sphinx adds 2 to the roll.

I’m 50, and I found this guy highly entertaining, so I’m not sure what generation it’s aimed at. I like this dude’s sense of humor.

    D&D 5E (2024) Let's call it 5.24

If the existence of this thread were to somehow prevent this debate from permeating other threads, then I would be wholeheartedly excited. But, alas, I highly doubt that will happen.

    D&D 5E (2024) Let's call it 5.24

Where's the poll option for "Who gives a flying [censored]?" Seriously, have we not run this debate into the ground over the past ~2 years? Virtually every thread seems to get derailed by someone offhandedly using a specific moniker and then someone else objecting to it. It's happening right...

    D&D 5E (2024) All 48 Player’s Handbook 2024 Subclasses

I never thought of the Warlord as being a subclass of the Bard, but thinking about it now is giving me these vibes:

    D&D 5E (2024) Heroic Inspiration and Humans

Honestly, I can’t imagine it would be overly time consuming to reroll a die. The initial roll might take a bit, since you need to locate the correct die and determine what modifier to add to the roll. But to then reroll it? The die is already in your hand and you already know the modifier...

D&D General Changing Order of Character Creation, from 1e to 2024

Race/Species -> Background -> Class always made the most sense to me because it’s chronological. Start with how you were born, then how you grew up, then what you are now. And yet, every time I create a character, I choose my Class first 🤷🏻‍♂️
