Eberron: My issue with the 4e setting

Fortunately, this is one of the easiest things to houseful back to the old method. I personally have houseruled this. I admit, a player with the right backstory could convince me to make an exception to my own houserule, but it would have to be an awesome backstory. However, also according to...

    Eberron: Thrane Archers?

The weapon of choice for the Silver Flame is the longbow, which has been canon for a while. While I am not sure if the units were focused on before 4E (I'd have to run through Forge of War), it certainly makes sense they would have lots of archery units.

Pathfinder 1E These forums need a "Pathfinder" prefix.

But that's a legacy thing. The 4E Rules forum was the 4E forum before 4E was released. That was made up of threads pulled from General Discussion when it was decided the 4E discussion needed its own forum. I imagine they need the 4E prefix since so many of the threads already used it...

    Reviews: positive or negative

I tend to prefer positive or balanced reviews. The excessively positive reviews tend not to be too useful, though. For example, I somewhat recently read a review gushing over Mouse Guard. that was written by someone who either worked in the company or was friends with the creator of Burning...

    Starting a Paragon Eberron Campaign

I would deliberately keep it something that not accelerate to the players wanting PvP combat. For example, two different players might be under orders to investigate certain areas of the ruins. If time is an issue, they might not have time to investigate both areas and thus we have some...

    Starting a Paragon Eberron Campaign

Right now I am running an Eberron Paragon side trek. I was running a campaign set in 998. I decided to time warp back about 1,000 years to the Eldreen Reaches with an all Primal/Druid mini-campaign (I figure about 3 levels worth) to set up some of the backstory of the current game. The...

Is your group perfect for you (as a DM)?

For me, the perfect group is one where I don't have to be GM all the time. Also, my group is not nearly into the "roleplaying" aspect as much as I am. Unfortunately, my skills in that area (which were never top drawer) have atrophied and I am not as comfortable as I was in bringing out the...

    PHB3: Githzerai and Seeker

And I, for one, approve. New races are one of the areas with quickly diminishing returns, in my opinion. At some point you end up with races that are so bizarre few will want to play them (and even then, usually no more than once), or else so similar to other races that there isn't much to...

WotC Art Contest - Who is the Real Oso de la Fez?

Unfortunately, I only see 5 that scream "vote for me immediately." Very, very good selection of images.

D&Di - Monster Builder Beta Launch Announced

The stated reason was that they had an engine already built that would be the core of the application and it only worked on Windows. They felt it wasn't worthwhile spending the extra development time and money to redeveloping what they already had to include the Mac market at launch. Now...

    Immediate Interrupt Question

But they aren't the same thing. If a power is triggered "when hit" it doesn't trigger "when missed" which would be triggered for the "if attacked" (assuming the obvious timing switch).

D&Di - Monster Builder Beta Launch Announced

Worse, it's not an alphabetized list. Finding something in the list is a royal pain.

    August Editorial Calendar

I am very disappointed we don't have any more 4E updates to the latter 3.5 books. We have two Eberron books to be adapted (Dragons of Eberron and City of Stromreach). With the 4E books out now, it's time to strike while the iron is hot.

Ah, yes. I forgot fiction. In my opinion, Niall of the Far Travels, from the legendary Gardner F. Fox is the best fiction series published in The Dragon. We had a few great one offs from great authors, but this series was very strong. Erik Mona has said he actively tried to get permission...

    Elder Evils Conversion is up

I liked that this time they had a .PDF of the new statblocks. Not necessarily as good as a .PDF of the whole article, but much better than the [I]Exemplars of Evil[/url] from earlier in the month.

Local Library has 2 D&D books

I'll note that shortly after 3.5 was released (I believe) WotC had a program to get the core books into libraries. I don't know how successful it was, but they were actively trying. I know a few years ago the local libraries had a good list of D&D books listed in their collections, but they...

    Explore Airspur (4e Forgotten Realms)

Details on how to join are in the FAQ under "How do I become a member?" (they cover the standard method first, and then mention the alternative).

There are certainly some articles that are generally considered classics almost universally. The Politics of Hell comes to mind.

    I don't miss the magazines (/ducks)

Indeed. Dungeon used to be the best value, by far, in roleplaying. For the most part, you were getting 3 adventures per issue. Even if one adventure wasn't for you (like the adventure path's weren't for me), there were two other adventures to like. Plus there were a few columns that...

Review of the Eberron Campaign Guide...

Keith stated that he put the symbionts in the adventure so that they would exist in 4E (here Honestly, I am not a big fan of the symbionts and could miss them altogether. In fact, in that particular adventure I didn't think they were particularly effective items for the creatures that used them.
