    Drow

By your reasoning, WotC doesn't like any of the player races except humans, since all of them except humans have less varieties then the drow have in the Monster Vault. They also don't like trolls, ogres, cyclops, kobolds, goblins, bugbears, hobgoblins, ettins, drakes, red dragons, and the vast...

    D&D 4E 4e Keyword fixes - please discuss

In order to be immune to damage with multiple damage types, you have to have immunity to ALL of the damage types. If you do not have immunity to both Cold and Necrotic when you take damage from a power that deals both, you are not immune to the damage. You have to use your lowest level of...

    D&D 4E 4e Keyword fixes - please discuss

Arlough, the online Compendium is incomplete in the rules text of the Immune entry from both the PHB3 and Rules Compendium. Here's the missing paragraph: So, if you are immune to one damage type and you get hit by a power that has two damage types, you are not immune to any of the damage. If a...

Dungeon 191: Adapting "The Lich-Queen's Beloved"

Maybe it's because he didn't get paid to convert the adventure to use in his home game, and he isn't obligated to give you all the work he did in his own free time.

Essentials classes - eaiser to play... at reduced tactical complexity?

Cavaliers rely on at-will, encounter, and daily attack powers, not basic attacks.

    Elemental Hero' Handbook

A new addition to Warpriest would be a domain. If it was for the Mage build, it would be called a school. That indicates to me that these will be new subclasses.

Final Character Theme Article Up: Heroes for Hire

Emphasis mine. It saves you an hour on the standard roll without having to rely on DM fiat to allow it to be used as a knowledge skill.

    Themes article up

I like these. Order Adept needs some tweaking, but all in all, I prefer these to the DS Themes, which were just a power list with a couple paragon paths and feats. These also avoid the problems the previous ones had with power swaps and psionic power points.

    What are themes?

This is a prime example of why sharing info on an in-development project causes heartbreak for fans: they take proposed design features (which may get cut or changed during development) as promises or hype promised features into what they want, rather than what was actually promised. That's...

    What are themes?

Unless there is a Dragon article from issues 360-363 (359 and earlier were still Paizo) that I can't find, the pre-release source we have for weapons changing fighting style is Races and Classes. And that sounds like exactly what we got.
  11. The Little Raven

    What are themes?

Themes are like the Z-axis of characters (with Race being X and Class being Y). They have a power source, but are open to all characters (since they currently lack requirements). They provide you with a bonus encounter power/feature, and give you a list of powers from 2-10 that can be swapped...

You Wanted Character Themes, You Got 'Em - Dragon 399 ToC

At first, separating the themes into 4 different articles seemed like an attempt to make the content seem like more than it actually was. Then I counted the amount of themes and noticed that there are more than there were in Dark Sun, and those get 2 page spreads for each theme, so this is...

Seeker and Rune priest support idea

I definitely think that making the Seeker and Runepriest subclasses of the Ranger and Cleric classes is definitely the first step in support. They should implement that change and see how it shakes out, since both classes will now have built-in feat, power, and item support. From there, they can...

    Too Complicated A Buy-In?

The Red Box hits the mark perfectly. It's a bright red box that says in clear letters "STARTER SET." And its contents refer you to the next products to get if you want to continue to play/run the game.

Unearthed Arcana: Strange Gods (Dragon #398)

They should add an "Unearthed Arcana" checkbox to allow people who want to use UA player options to use them (and have it remove a character's legal status).

Unearthed Arcana: Strange Gods (Dragon #398)

Divine Identification is seriously messed up. It suggests it should have multiple targets, but has a range of Personal and no Target line. It then has a Special entry that says it targets one additional ally within the burst, with no qualifier.

    Feats & Fighters

You don't lose two features, you just lose Healer's Lore. And the domain features are nothing to sneeze at. For example, Earth Domain gives you and each ally within 5 squares a +2 power bonus to saves versus ongoing damage, and your healing word target takes half damage from the next attack that...

Class Compendium Feats and Weaponmaster is out!

One says "Templar Feature/Attack/Utility X" and the other says "Cleric Feature/Attack/Utility X." I'm sure you can figure out which is which.

The Problem of DDI...Solved! (Well, not really)

I like how WotC is the greedy one for being unhappy about people downloading their content without paying and doing something about it.

Some questions about the Executioner Assassin

I think you're confusing Death Attack for Assassin's Strike. Assassin's Strike is the +d10 damage encounter power. While you don't gain new uses at 3rd level and so forth like other Striker damage features, it scales in damage faster. Death Attack is the feature that allows you to choose to...
