does a nice, shy, meek guy have a chance in hell?

Forgive my bluntness, but the answer to that question is no: women don't want a nice guy. Speaking from both personal experience as well as from listening to stories told to me by friends, family members, and other EN Worlders, it's become clear to me that while women everywhere claim that...

    Gun

Too bad. I was hoping that it would be good; Westerns are a very under-utilized genre for video games. There are a gajillion games out there in sci-fi settings, fantasy settings, and modern-day Earth settings, but very few games set in the Old West. :( EDIT: Actually, it looks like it's...

Feast For Crows rocks so far!(small spoilers)

I'm not too keen on Sam either. Freakin' annoying crybaby is what he is. ;) Well, I'm not saying that major characters should be invulnerable, but after the "Red Wedding" scene in Book 3, it became very apparant to me that a surefire way to get yourself killed off in GRRM's books is to be a...

Feast For Crows rocks so far!(small spoilers)

Ugh. Aside from all of the gratitious and completely unnessecary sex scenes and GRRM's love of killing off good guys just for shock value, Catelyn was my least favorite thing about the original trilogy. Still, I'm looking forward to reading this book. It's next on my reading list after I...

Look on the bright side: at least he didn't nominate the katana. ;)

    Are You Getting Enough Sleep?

I don't get enough sleep. It's hard for me to sleep during the daytime, and nighttime is when the Underpants Gnomes come out.

    History's most underrated inventions.

Everybody knows about the major inventions throughout history like the wheel, gunpowder, the steam engine, electrical power, etc. But this very interesting article focuses on inventions that, even though we may not think of them as especially major discoveries, actually had far-reaching effects...

So who all plans on playing DDO?

I probably won't be playing D&D Online. I'm still as addicted to World of Warcraft as I was when the game first came out, and that dosen't appear to be changing anytime soon. Plus, the WoW expansion pack is coming out next year, which will give me even more cool stuff to enjoy. D&D Online...

Businesses saying keep the rowdy children at home.

I like kids, but few things are more annoying than trying to enjoy a nice meal in a resturant or a movie in a theater while a nearby toddler is screaming their head off and running around while the parents do absolutely nothing about it. I'm 100% in favor of businesses being able to ask parents...

    Fantasy Races and Originality

An original take on traditional fantasy races is one of the reasons I love the Warcraft setting. For example: Orcs: Instead of the evil, stupid, expendable brutes of most fantasy settings, Warcraft orcs are a noble, spiritual people driven by a strong sense of honor. They used to be evil...

    "Serenity" SE-DVD question

I can see your point (particularly the part about the fans bashing every non-Firefly sci-fi show). I enjoyed Firefly, and even bought the DVD box set. But I'll be damned if it dosen't seem like the rabid fanboys are trying their best to sour people on the show simply through their fanatical...

    So Torn! WoW of CoV?

Why would you need to have already played the previous Warcraft games to enjoy WoW? I play regularly with several people who have never played a Warcraft game before WoW, and they have no problems with enjoying the game.

Can you spot the fake smile?

I got 15 out of 20. I did better than I thought I would, considering that I've always considered myself pretty bad at picking up signals. :)

Socrates, Plato, Aristotle. All of them are morons compared to your dad. :D

What is Final Fantasy all about?

You're probably right. I played FF1 for the NES back around 1990 or so, and I loved it to death. I still look back on it fondly. I also really like Final Fantasy VI (great characters, great soundtrack, and surprisingly non-linear for a console RPG) and Final Fantasy VII (this game blew me...

Actually, I found the link to the story I mentioned earlier: U.S. Navy fires on small boats thought to be pirates :)

    Modern Setting Genre Conventions?

Oh, and who could forget Latveria; the fictional Eastern European country ruled by Doctor Doom? :)

    Modern Setting Genre Conventions?

I don't know about this one. I've seen several games and movies that take place in fictional countries. For example, the XBox/PC game Full Spectrum Warrior takes place in a fictional middle eastern country called Zekistan.

What is Final Fantasy all about?

Indeed, most of them are by Black Isle/Bioware. However, considering that those are the two companies that have produced most noteworthy PC RPGs in the last several years, it's not surprising they've got so many I've listed. :) I guess I could have included Diablo and Diablo II on the list...

Cruise liner fends off pirate attack

You know, this reminds me of a newspaper article I read a few years back where a group of pirates based in Iran thought that they had spotted an unprotected cargo ship in the Persian Gulf. When they approached the ship to board it, however, the vessel suddenly began to open fire on them. Turns...
