Hi, quick question. Level 10 human is reincarnated as a dwarf. What happens to the human bonus feat and skill points?

    Pythonesque Feats

The Bright Side of Death Benefits: You gain a +2 morale bonus to saves for all dropped enemies within a 10 ft of your character. Violence Inherent in the System Benefits: If you grapple an opponent with NPC levels, he must make a Will Save (DC = 10 + your charisma modifier) or spend his next...

Levelling monsters instead of advancing HD

Well, the Gargoyle's favored class IS fighter (see "Gargoyles as characters"), so there's certainly no problem. However, it's wierd that this is the case, given it's propensity for hiding and its Freeze ability. I'm surprised it's not a Rogue focused creature. That said, dropping 2 levels of...

    [Eberron] Miracle vs. Mournlands

The "soul" line of explanation is an interesting one that, although I haven't suggested in my campaign yet, would certainly chime with some of the flavor I email my group between sessions. In our campaign, the players have established that people can planeshift to the Realm of the Dead, find...

    [Eberron] Miracle vs. Mournlands

My players- hi. Read if you want. Scenario: The party assembles in Thronehold, and one player learns that the Throne of Galifar currently waits to seated by "the true king." This character's backstory is that he is a son of a vampire count of lost Cyre, his home shattered by the Cataclysm...

House Rule #2: Calling the DM out.

Ew. I just make sure Rule 0 is "Everyone has fun." Then after that... if I need to push numbers around, so be it. In the favor, or out of the favor, of the pcs makes no different. If doing anything to heighten challenge can be considered worthy of being called out, that means that all...

    Initiative and Persistant Effects

I'd figure this spell would function more like a summon spell- it's a conjuration that gets attacks on the caster's tick. Should a player move into the space, it resolves immediately per the wording of the spell. The player still gets an opportunity to work against the grapple on his own turn.

    XP and PCs gaining Templates

ok, thanks all... I was just doing the calculations and it seemed off. My email to the group was: "Guy with the template, you got # xp and progressed 2% towards level 17." "Everyone else, you got # xp and progressed 17.3% towards level 13." I mean... it looks bad on paper, fits the rules...

    XP and PCs gaining Templates

Help! When a pc gains a template, what happens to their XP total? Specific situation: Wizard gets a phylactery and jumps up from 12 to 16 when he becomes a lich. Does the wizard 's xp shoot up with the template or is his total static?

    Initiative and Persistant Effects

Quick preface: I'm running an APL 13 Eberron game with 5 players, which is leading to some really drawn out, complex fights. I'm looking for a houserule to streamline play a little bit, and would like thoughts on how this could be detrimental mechanically, and if that would outweigh the...

    Madden NFL 07

I think i was very spoiled by madden 05... I'm having a very hard time getting used to the player's perspectives in Superstar Mode. Played a LOLB and couldn't really see what the heck was going on- I just pushed forward and maybe I saw whoever had the ball. As a QB I couldn't see open...

Eberron: My players think they can rule the known world

If they want to conquer- pulp handles it. They can walk into the kingdom of ______ and slay the king/queen and the royal guard all they want. It'd make for an amazing story if the four remaining nations united to retaliate, or even started bickering with each other in an effort to control the...

Do your PCs ever completely outclass the enemy?

As much as I try, my players regularly outclass the opponents I've had them face. They're good tacticians and have really well designed characters who are good at the thwacky. Personally I have neither the time nor the interest to put into matching their optimization skills, and so the best...

Does being pinned give you the -5 Dex score?

Sometimes... they don't even need adamantine ones if they have that feat what eliminates the attack of opportunity. That's basically what all this talk of "avoiding getting bitten" is reduced down to.

Why can't you be prepared for a game session

I think the short of it is that I, the player, do not care about your game as much as you do. That's at least one reason. I've seen players email each other back n forth like crazy if something really gets their attention, or redo their character three times and be all hooray! about the next...

Plea to parents: Introducing children to the abstract concept of games

I'd have to say that RPGs are probably have just as much, if not more, of a risk element when it comes to dealing with infants and extremely young children. If by cooperative RPG you mean "Make-believe in which they work together to overcome riddles and puzzles" then that'd be fine, but if...

    Fall Angel

Sharn: City of Towers has a fallen angel, called a Radiant Lord. It's got the greatsword of cool, has lost it's wings and cannot, by any means at all, obtain a fly speed again. In exchange for the pure thwomping power your average angel gets, it instead is able to give domain powers to those...

Wiz18 Lich vs. four 12th level characters

Assuming homefield advantage, and assuming he knows they're coming, and he's not played under his Int rating, I'd say the Lich will pick the party apart unless they have some really wonky spells or feat combinations.
