Level Drain, Lasting Wounds, and Other Long-Term Conditions

For the record, I don't like things like stat drain, etc. But I dislike how cavalier people are about dropping below 0, and how easy people can go from dying to Olympic athlete-status in a few rounds. Also, while I dislike old school "10' poles and three hours of caution" or casual magical item...

    Your Rpg shelf

Instead of listing them all, I'll just group based on Systems on my shelf (Incidentally I need a second bookcase :p). Dresden Files RPG Core and Setting Book A Lot of 4e books. 3e Some fluff Books (Sandstorm/Stormwrack/Cityscape/Heroes of Horror) A lot of Eberron books A few Scarred Lands...

Level Drain, Lasting Wounds, and Other Long-Term Conditions

@marelion you're welcome to not use them. But many of the things you listed are features, not bugs, for some DMs and their preferred playstyle. This is house rules territory for those DMs that like that sort of play, and having a discussion about options for it is fair game. Look at Fourthcore...

Level Drain, Lasting Wounds, and Other Long-Term Conditions

I wanted to start a thread about houserules for Lasting Effects. Your wounds (broken arm et al), and other things that stick around. What are your ideas? Over on the 5e forum KarinsDad complained that there are no real effects to PCs beyond the encounter, or beyond that day. They specified...

D&D 5E (2014) new Critical Hits article about running DnD next

Where is Christopher Perkins in all this?

Along with doing the DM articles, Perkins is writing a huge Against the Giants adventure conversion for 4e.

How do you like your elves?

Sauted with a bit of garlic. You forgot to mention Dragon Age, which had your typical woodsy nomad elves, and city elves living in the ghetto and getting pushed around. I don't dig subraces all that well. I like my elves very Fey-like. But it's hard to capture that and get the group to play...

[Play Report] DMing for Middle/High Schoolers

@Dannyalcatraz not a bad idea - I had thought of asking if any of them wanted to learn how to DM. @Flatus Maximus One thought that crossed my mind was simply buying and giving one of the players a PF Beginner Box, along with a link to the PF SRD. I'd hate to come across as "If you want that...

[Play Report] DMing for Middle/High Schoolers

So here's an update. I went by Saturday with a signup sheet, just so I could get an idea of Names, Ages, and if they'd played before, along with some rules printoffs. The coordinator told me they had done a signup themselves, and that 12 kids(!) had signed up. But not all may be available due...

D&D 4E Against the Giants 4e part 2 is up!

I think it would be very useful if they took series like this and packaged them by themselves. So the entire Scales of War adventures in one place/PDf, the Against the Giants in one PDF/place; there's a few adventures in Dungeon which are 3 parters, and it would just make it simpler to organize...

    Mobile Blade Stance question

Thanks. I'm making pregens for some newbs, and I don't want to give them a power that's going to "punish" them with getting attacks. It might seem sort of a trap to the newbs. Something that's better for a more critical, tactical eye.

    Mobile Blade Stance question

The Slayer's mobile blade stance states Is there any errata making this a shift? Or, am I reading this correctly, and basically anytime you hit a target and move, you'll be drawing OAs?

    Hard Stat Cap of 18?

I'm ok with that. In fact I think it would be neat if they could never say, go over 20 even after level bumps, and you'd need to get A magical item to achieve 21 (the ultimate cap).
