I remember an instance when one of the CR players rolled a nat 20, and Mercer was stingy. Laura Bailey told him Give it up, he rolled a 20! He is generally very stingy about info, even when the roll is good.

I'm curious how Mercer plays his own system. Often, when I watched CR, he would ask for a skill roll when none were necessary. He should have simply offered the info because the scene didn't require a die roll. D&D doesn't require to make a roll every single time.

Because we play short campaigns of 2-3 adventures, we never house rule. We move on to a new RPG and never go back to the old ones. In the instance where we feel we would need to house rule an RPG, after one session, we abandon it, as it does not fit with our group's collective mind.

If more than one player is missing, we play a 2-hour board game that everyone already knows. We finish with one or two small filler games.

It can be damaging. Now, I only interact with two laid-back solo RPG Facebook groups. We share tricks of the trade, our journals and help when newbies ask questions. Playing solo doesn't mean being a solitary person! :D
