So what's gold gonna be for?

Wulf's got it. Doesn't speak to the value of immersive roleplaying, mind - which I choose not to here - but it's certainly true.

    4 roles - why 5 players?

I thought it was really Ted Turner? (Everybody that doesn't get that loses points.)

Corebooks in June!: News from the Alliance Retailer Summit

Well, between this news and my refreshed love of 3.5 (based on playing a great session), I guess I'll wait for the special editions. Happy birthday, to me... I hate typos. If I thought it'd work I'd offer my proofreading, free of charge, to everybody that writes gaming books. I can't stand...

Is 4th edition getting soft? - edited for friendly content :)

Well, obviously that particular CR 8 monster isn't meant to be used like other monsters. You can tell, because it has a save-or-die ability, which is balanced for its CR. I don't get it either. And...let me see if I can get this right, I've seen it done before...surely a good DM could have PCs...

Scott Rouse blog - Rogue ability

And yet only on the court does 'love' ever mean 'zero'. It's almost as if when a word has multiple meanings, including jargon, that reading that word in context with the other words around it would help with comprehension. Your reading is what we call "biased".

Scott Rouse blog - Rogue ability

I like most of what I hear about 4e....though lately, mostly in the fluff and the abstract. Oh, don't get me started on mall punk. Though for the record, I don't think that's happening here. Dude, that's adorable. Biggie was pre-sellout??? Come on now. Hip-hop died with gangsta. Run-DMC or...

Scott Rouse blog - Rogue ability

I'm so tired of all these video-gamey references to "hit points"! What is this, Nethack? Anyway... My personal based on nothing speculation/reaction: It reads a little like the L5R mass combat system, which tracks your position in the battle (Reserves / Disengaged / Engaged / Heavily Engaged)...

    4 roles - why 5 players?

    Because one Defender isn't a line, it's a point.

So, I bet that the d12 is getting kicked to the curb...

Based on the spined devil stat card, we can confirm the d4 is in! :D Also the d6, but they're ubiquitous anyway.

Fight on, Brave Internet Warrior. Fight on.

D&D 4E 4e tiefling art vs. previous edition tiefling art?

 man what She looks like she does in fact eat, which is kinda refreshing. There's some natural female curvature there. I love DiTerlizzi's style to death, but a startling number of his women are 'lean' enough it'd be like having sex with a bag of rakes. EDIT: And before everybody...

    Design & Development: The Warlock

I cannot speak to the behavior of individuals in the forum, but I dare to ask: Where, other than the 4e forum, would you expect to find 4e fanboys?

D&D 4E 4e tiefling art vs. previous edition tiefling art?

I find myself in complete agreement. One of the DMs in my group (we swap around, as many do) also has a world which relies at least somewhat heavily on tieflings with minor fiendish features. One such tiefling, with a devil's tail and rock-hard fingernails only, helped save the world. Dammit...

Way to get girls (?!): the new column for the new Dragon.

I don't think it's unreasonable, when writing for the internet audience, to assume the audience is capable of looking things up on the internet.

    Design & Development: The Warlock

Read it how you like. I don't think I said "Why have you been here all this time". I suggested your (obviously new) dislike of the core warlock and (potentially new, at least newly aggravated) hatred of "fanboys" might have a common solution. Ooh, promise? I'll bring the wine.

    Design & Development: The Warlock

Okay, you're just the most recent person in this thread to do so, so apologies for picking on you, but... Holy hell, folks. The mods have already made a decision and enforced it. Piling on a man who's already been removed from the thread is simply poor form.

    Design & Development: The Warlock

Well, your opinion appears to be ill-informed, or at least based on a partial understanding of the material. People are trying to help. Psssst. They're generally in the 4e forum. As it's pretty much about 4e, which you don't want to upgrade to, a solution to your two problems seems to present...

    Per-Encounter/Per-Day Design and Gameplay Restrictions

Close, but no cohiba. Without narration rights, those players don't decide anything. They can hunt orcs all they want, but until the DM puts some orcs in front of them they're just hunting. It's written from a point of view assuming an accommodating DM, so I can see where you'd be confused, but...

    Per-Encounter/Per-Day Design and Gameplay Restrictions

Which, and I hate to bring this news to you, is not nearly as common a play style as you appear to believe. See the bolded line? That is saying, with other words, that the DM is responsible for what the players encounter.

    Per-Encounter/Per-Day Design and Gameplay Restrictions

That's got to be the first time I've ever seen "does more damage" being described as "getting less one-dimensional".
