Triangle Agency Saves The World One TPS Report At A Time

It's definitely going for a Control vibe, just if the Federal Bureau of Control was a corporate NGO instead.

What is a "Light" RPG? What is a "Crunchy" RPG?

My criteria tends to be based on how much additional material is tacked onto the system's core math (read: usually "XdX + Bonuses = Target"). If it's mostly JUST the core math and the barest setting/customization, that's an ultralight game (24XX). If it's got an actual list of skills and...

D&D General A Setting with Only Small Races/Species?

Eh, a pretty decent concept, but I'm not really into it. I'm kind of married to the "why does this place have a height limit?" idea (no ideas on that "why" yet. Eccentric goddess of one of the Halfling/Gnome pantheons going her own way, maybe?). Also, doing a full on extra-planar conflict as a...

D&D General A Setting with Only Small Races/Species?

I wanted the whimsy of EVERYTHING but the intelligent species, and their constructs, being HUGE. Trees are high-rises, wolves are horses, horses are bears. But, a few folks keep doing me the Syndrome meme, "but if everyone small, no one small". I didn't think this was that hard a concept to...

D&D General A Setting with Only Small Races/Species?

I was meaning more as NPCs. Angels, devils, and djinn clearly have a presence here, given their progeny are part of the playable species list. So, having statblocks for them would be handy. Not just for the Tiefling's great-grandfather, but also for Warlock patrons and such. Maybe this just...

D&D General A Setting with Only Small Races/Species?

I'm including the planetouched species, so that means planar entities have SOME kind of presence in the setting. Anything that travels to the setting transforms into it's closest equivalent in the "small" size bracket. So, I need to figure out the closest equivalent for the most common...

D&D General A Setting with Only Small Races/Species?

I'm still wondering how to planar entities with the size restriction. I think I'd need to do fresh stat blocks, since stuff in this bracket is thin on the ground (still going with "Imps" and "Cherubs" for the names). Succubi/Incubi are still cool, they're already shapeshifters. What's the...

D&D General A Setting with Only Small Races/Species?

If I were to really restrict/refocus this list, I'd slim it down to ones present in Faerun, since that IS the 5E baseline. So, that would leave us with... Gnomes (Forest, Rock, Deep), Halflings (Stout, Lightfoot, Ghostwise), Goblins, Kobolds, Grungs, Kenku (Small only), Aasimar (Small only)...

D&D General A Setting with Only Small Races/Species?

Okay: went digging just to have a proper reference. Here are (I think) all of Fifth Edition's player species in the "small" size category. An asterisk means that they can choose between Small or Medium. Aasimar (Mordenkainen)* Genasi (Mordenkainen)* Gnomes (Player's) --- Deep Gnomes...

Nice, always need a avian race.... Wait... Kenku ALSO get to choose to be Medium or Small.

D&D General A Setting with Only Small Races/Species?

I'm going to admit that I crossposted this topic on RPGNet to crosspollinate the threads and properly credit a great suggestion. A very good visual inspiration for this that I missed: Fraggle Rock. I'm ashamed that it didn't come to mind sooner...

    Space: 1999 Coming From Modiphius

Eh, not my specific cup of tea. But maybe this will open the door for more games. Thunderbirds. Captain Scarlet, maybe. Oh, Lavender Castle would make a great TTRPG! "We must find the City at Center of the Universe before Duke Umbra does or he'll reshape all of reality in his twisted image"...

D&D General A Setting with Only Small Races/Species?

I just had a funny idea for the dwarf issue. Given that gnomes USED to be tied to fae ancestry before 5E apparently toned that way down for Warcraft-style tinker gnome, I'm going to split the difference. Elves are Forest Gnomes, Dwarves are Rock Gnomes. If the home worlds of a planeshopping...

D&D General A Setting with Only Small Races/Species?

1). I forgot Grungs were small. Nice, another race for the world. 2). A fun idea. Though, definitely more apocalyptic than I was going for. Call that a dark "What If...".

D&D General A Setting with Only Small Races/Species?

Oh, yeah. Typo. Thank you. Oh, that's a DPS issue. Yeah, I can see it, the ceiling is a half-step (it's only disadvantage, not outright forbiddance) lower for the shorties. My best solution (beyond simply ignoring it) would be a stat threshold. Have at least a 15 in STR or CON? Cool, you can...

D&D General A Setting with Only Small Races/Species?

For Reference (it's UA): +1 STR, you gain Athletics prof. (Expertise if redundant), you count as a size larger for carry cap. Adding "you may wield Heavy weapons, even if you were of Medium size" (or however the usual wording for that would be) would make sense. Though, really, you don't need...

And a couple subs (Stout Halfling, Rock Gnome) get a CON boost, as well. So, a Barbarian isn't completely out of the question. They're just a bit more limited in weapon choice, here.

D&D General A Setting with Only Small Races/Species?

Exactly. A lot of the wonder comes from the juxtapositions. Great place to flex, if you're a properly descriptive DM.

D&D General A Setting with Only Small Races/Species?

Dwarves are medium size, at least in 5E. I'm using WotC's rankings for this. As for the tank: Stout Halflings? Maybe Rock Gnomes?

D&D General A Setting with Only Small Races/Species?

Yes, a classic Wainscot Society. Love those, as well. By the way, my cut off for "small" was about three foot. Four and up was medium (which is why I excluded dwarves). I may have misremembered the official ranges.
