D&D 4E What should the next new official campaign setting for 4e be like?

I'd buy Grayhawk if they'd "reboot" it back to EGG's original vision. Not sure I have enough hours in the day left to actually play or run a Grayhawk campaign, but I'd sure buy the books.

D&D 4E What should the next new official campaign setting for 4e be like?

Probably not gonna happen of course, but you can probably find some good stuff at the Dragonlance Nexus.

Innaresting, I wasn't aware you could mute the browser only in Win 7. I'm actually using Win7, but unfortunately the app I need sound for (system monitoring) is browser-based. Now if I could enable/disable sound on a per-tab basis, that would be pretty cool. :D

D&D 4E What should the next new official campaign setting for 4e be like?

Yes. The sweet spot for campaign settings seems to be 2 books. Anything beyond that and it's really only the DM buying them. And since roughly only about 1 in 5 players are DMs, it just doesn't make good financial sense to release anything beyond the core world materials. To me, Dungeon and...

Community plays D&D on NBC last night

I've seen a couple episodes of this show, and found it to be a wannabe 30 Rock that just doesn't measure up. THIS episode, however, was brilliant. I'm not sure how the writers finally found their stride, but if they can keep up this level of quality then I might just become a regular viewer...

Was I being a dick to do this.

To me, DM'ing is always about challenging player expectations. If one of my player says "he'd never have a monster we can't beat" or somesuch, I see that as a hole in my DMing abilities and you can bet your sweet a** they're going to get the D&D equivalent of the Kobayashi Maru very soon. :lol...

Loss of Ki - More Harm Than Good?

I am sure everyone who plays L5R will be surprised to hear that they are playing Oriental Adventures.

Yep that looks like the one! Morrus, thanks for having it blocked. (and unfortunately for me, blocking sound isn't an option as I need it for my job. :\)

I love that the module has the map from Queen of the Demonweb Pits.

Loss of Ki - More Harm Than Good?

For whatever reason, Western gamers do not, in general, play oriental settings. I don't know the exact reason, although I suspect that the culture is just too foreign. Everyone "gets" traditional swords and sorcery, even if you weren't raised on it. You have knights in shining armor, damsels...

D&D 4E What should the next new official campaign setting for 4e be like?

Blackmoor, which is technically part of Mystara, was the first campaign setting. But Greyhawk eventually became the 'default' campaign setting, and remained so for many years. ETA: I actually might be wrong about Blackmoor being the first, now that I think about it. Someone please feel free...

D&D 4E What should the next new official campaign setting for 4e be like?

Correct. Although neither Greenwood's nor TSR's intent at the time was to eventually publish the world. Greenwood used his campaign as back-story to monsters and other info he had published in Dragon, and if memory servers, somebody at TSR looking to publish a new campaign setting rang him up...

D&D 4E What should the next new official campaign setting for 4e be like?

I always thought the signature setting for AD&D was Dragonlance. I didn't much care for it, prefering my own home-brewed world, but they sold a lot of dead trees in both game supplements and novels. But anyhoo... I think the problem with yet another setting is dilution. Just in terms of 4e...

    Clockwork Cowl

Um yeah...WotC really need to tighten that up. Didn't even occur to me to look in the PHB FAQ, and for all I know there's some other source out there that says something completely different. Or not.

    Clockwork Cowl

Ah, I stand corrected, apologies for the erroneous info. And just because I'm a completist, the relevant line in FAQ 38 is: So basically, to be an attack, it looks like the power needs to have a target entry, or an attack entry. Handy to know.

Storm Pillar is a "Wizard Attack 1" power, so I'd say yes, it's an attack.

If it happens again I'll grab the URL. As it was, I closed the tab as quickly as I could because I was at work, where everyone learned that I was a "winner."

Well as I mentioned, I like to support the site with click-throughs. I don't know what the ad was, it was one of those "ZOMG YOU WIN!" ads that flashes. If I run across it again I'll point it out.

I just clicked on a forum link only to have "YOU'VE WON!" blasted through my speakers by an epileptic-fit-inducing 60Khz flashing banner ad at the top. Please tell me this is an anomaly. I don't mind ad-supported, and in fact I click on the occasional ad just to make sure the fine folks here...
