There is no scientific basis for warp drive, replicators, levitating cities, or aliens whose only distinguishing trait from humans is a forehead wrinkle, but all those things can be found in the science-fiction genre, hence the word "fiction."

I despise them and would like to see them burninated from D&D forever. Psionics might be appropriate for sci-fi but they are completely incongruous with D&D or standard fantasy.

Assuming you are running a 3E game and choose ToEE, you could always take some pointers from the CRPG, which was great.

They are both great, but if I had to choose I would choose ToEE.

A fighter's "better idea of how to best use his strength and body to maximum effect" was already accounted for in his superior THAC0. The different strength and constitution rules for warriors vs non-warriors was lame, IMO.
