    D&D 5E (2024) Rogue Playtest Discussion

Point 4 and B are related. Evasion coming later seems to be the tradeoff for moving their subclass features to lower levels. They had to backfill some of those vacated levels. I prefer the change because it was so weird having to wait until level 9 for a second subclass feature.

D&D 5E (2024) Picking Locks and Disarming Traps - Dex or Sleight of Hand?

I played a game recently that used Infiltration for things like lockpicking, trap disarming, and pickpocketing.

    D&D 5E (2024) Divine Spell List

Paladins will probably see a good deal of change if they attempt to standardize the subclass levels for everyone in the group. They're the only class with a level 20 subclass feature and we know that's epic boons now. Level 18 is a class wide capstone going by the expert UA so either their final...

D&D 5E (2024) Dual wielder feat got worse?

I like the idea of a special whirlwind-esque attack. Or even a "flurry" attack that targets dex saves instead of AC.

I don't see where you get prof bonus twice. Wouldn't it just be attribute + prof bonus + d20 with advantage?

D&D 5E (2014) Companion thread to "5E Survivor - Subclasses (Part VI: Fighters)"

I know very little about psionics but my time on this site has taught me that it is a contentious thing. Replace the Psi part of Psi Warrior and it would have done better. The mechanics are pretty good in a void but if you don't think they represent psionics well then how well they work won't...

D&D 5E (2024) Down Leveling spells, from the Expert Classes playtest.

I could see it becoming a recurring subclass feature to be able to downcast certain spells. That way there is a level requirement and you can specifically design the downcasting for the spell in question. Animate Dead for necromancers, Vampiric Touch for a new version of a blackguard or long...

D&D 5E (2024) Dual wielder feat got worse?

It's even worse. With the new rules in the playtest anyone can draw and attack with a light weapon and then draw and attack with an off-hand light weapon in the same turn. The Quick Draw feature is unnecessary for dual wielders now unless you regularly switch between 3+ weapons during a fight...

I like it except for the Critically Hit one. That seems extra brutal for melee folks who already take more attacks from enemies than their ranged companions.

    A 6ft tall character with a strength score of 8 doing a standing high jump gets ((3 - 1)/2) + (6 * 1.5) = touching the rim of a basketball hoop. According to D&D I must have a strength score of around 6. That's a blow to my ego.

D&D 5E (2024) UA Groups: Expert, Mage, Priest, Warrior

We have our four groupings and for the Experts they made all the subclass features occur at the same levels: 3, 6, 10, 14. This meant adding an extra feature for the bard, as they only had three before, and shuffling levels downward for the rogue. Assuming they decide to do something similar for...

That's a pretty good variant. I like that you incorporated unique maneuvers into each subclass. It could just be me but I was getting a weird formatting error on page 6. The right hand column was pushed almost completely off the screen but only on that page.

D&D 5E (2024) I'm getting increasingly worried about the fate of sorcerer

Thanks for catching that. How I missed it I'll never know. I agree moving them up to 10 and 14 would be a positive change. They did it with the rogue and I think it is great even if it delayed some other features.

D&D 5E (2024) I'm getting increasingly worried about the fate of sorcerer

Well the Sorcerer is paired with the Warlock and Wizard so my guess is they all start their subclasses at level 1. It has to be a lot easier to move Wizard ahead one level than to do the work of pulling two classes back. Let alone the flavor getting all screwy if you push back Warlocks and...
