How to get into a Mordenkainen's Magnificent Mansion

    1) You can plane shift or gate out. 2) Does Dimensional Lock stop someone from another plane from entering?? I thought it only stopped beings in the area of the spell from leaving.

How to get into a Mordenkainen's Magnificent Mansion

It's psionic, not arcane: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/genesis.htm There's also a Pathfinder version at level 8 but it's not permanent: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/c/create-demiplane And a divine version...

How to get into a Mordenkainen's Magnificent Mansion

God-like power? Spells that create *PERMANENT* planes already exist one level higher. This is only temporary, much weaker.

How to get into a Mordenkainen's Magnificent Mansion

You're assuming there is a plane of mansions, or at most each version of the spell connects to one plane. I would also consider the possibility that every casting creates it's own temporary plane.

How to get into a Mordenkainen's Magnificent Mansion

My take on it: 1) Targeted dispel on the door. Success dispels the mansion and dumps everyone back where the door was. 2) Gate would work except for that ruler of the plane clause. The caster of the spell can keep the gate from opening. 3) Plane shift has a big problem with obtaining the...

    1001 Plane Ideas

I had another thought on the neutron star plane: A neutron star that's spinning incredibly fast, right at the equator it's only like 5g--survivable to an unprotected person (although the lack of a breathable atmosphere would be an issue.) You always arrive on the equator. Of course whatever...

    1001 Plane Ideas

I was figuring plane shift or gate--after all, you described it as a plane. Yeah, they're scary but I think I put enough downside in it that it's only useful to let you perform feats of great strength. The combat penalties from moving slowly are so great you're not going to be hitting with...

    1001 Plane Ideas

Yeah, it's an approximation. I disregarded the own body weight because it was lost in the roundoff of the calculation I was doing. For gravities near our own your math is correct. Or it's a realm you venture only with some pretty extreme magic. The thread about diamonds on Uranus got me to...

Pathfinder 1E Fighting a Medusa with mirrors?

One way mirrors are really just partially reflective mirrors, nothing more. The secret is the light levels--you must look from dark to light through them. Lets say the mirror reflects 50% of the light. There's a one-way mirror in place of a window. We are outside under a full moon. That's...

    1001 Plane Ideas

The gravity on a neutron star is *MUCH* greater than this. I would take the minimum strength to be that in which your body weight does not exceed your max load. (Yes, normally that's in addition to your body weight rather than including it but the extra weight from the gravity will utterly...

    1001 Plane Ideas

You're describing the surface of a neutron star. The "mountains" might be a centimeter tall: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2009/05/090513-strong-star-crust.html I also want to know what sort of strength score is needed to survive there!

    1001 Plane Ideas

    8) A plane where the dead always rise 24 hours after death. They come back as an undead with the number of HD that they had class levels in life, intelligent casters retain their casting. They retain their alignment. However they are in a slightly different dimension than the living. All...

    1001 Plane Ideas

    7) A plane where magic works quite differently: Spell slots are regained in an hour instead of a day and are automatically filled with whatever you had in them last, you only prepare spells if you want to change them. However it takes two people to cast a spell. Both must cast the spell with...

Constructing Succubus NPC -- Psion or Sorcerer? (Second try)

This. A Succubus shouldn't be engaging in combat. If attacked her first response should be to port away.

    1001 Plane Ideas

    3. A plane that is constantly trying to eat you. A mouth will open under you and try to digest you. The damage is low enough that rescue is feasible. It's slow, though, it takes the plane a minute to position the mouth. That means safety comes from always moving. You'll have to sleep off...

    1001 Plane Ideas

    2. Admittedly this would be a pain to DM: A plane made of a great mass of spheres from a few meters across to a few hundred. They're always moving slowly, they never collide. Inside a sphere is normal but it's impossible to either walk or fly while outside a sphere. The only means of...

Dodging Fireballs and other Readied Action Sheneigans

No, I'm making the spellcraft check to see that he's just cast an AOE spell. That looks perfectly permissible to me. (And the flip side is that if you don't make the spellcraft check you don't know what's coming down and you totally wasted the round.)

Dodging Fireballs and other Readied Action Sheneigans

I do agree about the miswording and your analysis of what it should say. However, I think this is specifically aimed at things like the charging--you can ready an attack with that spear if he gets close enough.
