Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana Sorcerers: Favored Souls, Phoenix Sorcery, Sea Sorcery, & Stone Sorcery

It's interesting that 5e was supposed to be a game of three pillars, and "bring back" exploration and role playing interaction. And yet, almost none of these subclasses ever have anything but combat abilities.

    D&D 4E I love 5E, but lately I miss 4E's monsters

It is strange what abstract game rules upset people in a game full of abstract rules.

    D&D 4E I love 5E, but lately I miss 4E's monsters

Does your character talk about saving throws? Their hit point total? Their feats? Their armor class? Their proficiency bonus? Spell levels? Challenge ratings? Experience points? Don't those terms break immersion?

How can I report someone who doesn't post?

Entirely serious. All the guy does is give XP to posts he agrees with and laugh at posts he disagrees with (ie posts that are pro-4e.) It's troll behavior that gets around moderation because he never actually posts. I come to the site, see I have 3 notifications and think "Gee golly, I wonder...

How can I report someone who doesn't post?

This guy just trolls people with opinions he doesn't like with "laugh with this post", but never actually contributes with posts. *snip link* -Darkness It's pretty annoying.

D&D 5E (2014) Should 5e use monster stat blocks for animal companions?

The reason is because that's not how D&D traditionally does it. That doesn't make it a good idea.

D&D 5E (2014) Should 5e use monster stat blocks for animal companions?

Yeah, how D&D traditionally does it is stupid. It's the same thing with summoned creatures. And wild shape/polymorph/etc. Weed out the complexity, the imbalance, the clumsy implementation and go with something streamlined and usable. But unfortunately 5e doesn't do that with most rules.

    D&D 4E Thing I thought 4e did better: Monsters

Hey Jeff Albertson, All you do is click XP for posts knocking 4e and click laugh for any post in support of it. Why don't you actually post your opinion instead of being a passive aggressiveness troll?

    D&D 4E Thing I thought 4e did better: Monsters

Pemerton, these people are just trolling you. It's a waste of time.

    D&D 5E (2014) Concentration while Short Resting

Putting a straw into a Capri Sun juice pouch can break the focus of even the greatest hero.

    D&D 5E (2014) Concentration while Short Resting

And this is why natural language and rulings not rules and no errata is just terrible.

    D&D 5E (2014) What happened to one-off games?

People have already listed some good ideas. I would say, look at TV shows and even movies now. They used to be heavily episodic and now they've moved into being heavily serialized. Ongoing, elaborate stories are the norm now. Not "monster of the week."

    D&D 4E D&D Fluff Wars: 4e vs 5e

Certainly. And by no means do I think every 4e answer is great. But 5e never even asks the question.

    D&D 4E D&D Fluff Wars: 4e vs 5e

4e generally has much better fluff. Not necessarily because any specific component is better, but because 4e asked the question "Is this bit of fluff actually interesting and useful in play?" That's a great question.

D&D 5E (2014) Capricious Home Rules and DM Pet Peeves

I ban players who don't understand what a pet peeve is from my game.

D&D 5E (2014) Do Arcane Abilities work when bound and gagged?

Many classes have abilities that are not spells. Even magical abilities.
