D&D 5E (2014) [GUIDE] My Word Is My Sword: The Paladin Guide

Isn't this whole ranged/ physical discussion settled the second Tasha's comes out with the Holy Warrior fighting style? Guidance and Toll the Dead for all.

D&D 5E (2014) Advice on 8th level ASI for Circle of Shepherd Druid stuck in Barovia

I fully agree with Benjamin Olson. I also wouldn't take Subtle Spell for the counterspelling-aspect. I put it in the same box as Assasination Rogues tbh; Looks great on paper but has very few applications when you are actually playing. As he also mentioned; the applications of subtle spell in...

D&D 5E (2014) Characters using elite warrior drow poison

I also think it's no problem at all to make stuff like this available to your players. I've always found it weird that there are poisoner kit proffeciencies in the game and a list of different poisons, their effects and cost in the DMG (although the mechanics are kind of clunky and the DC's...

D&D 5E (2014) Question about Conjure Minor Elementals.

I'm a PC in the campaign, not the DM, so I doubt NPC's will walk around with 5 daggers in their belt :P The main thing I was wondering was wether a single piece of armor or weapon could be targeted multiple times, like a Firebolt spell or other straight-up damage spells.

D&D 5E (2014) Question about Conjure Minor Elementals.

Hey people, My charater just picked up a ring that lets him summon some magma mephits (as per conjure minor elementals) so I was going over the stat block and saw they can all cast Heat Metal. But I can't stack 4-5 heat metals on the same target, because that would technicly be the same as...

    D&D 5E (2014) Optimizing a Circle of Shepherd Druid

https://5e.tools/bestiary/velociraptor-vgm.html They can't knock enemies down but they do have Pack Tactics and attack twice per round. I like throwing in 1 level of Life Cleric with my Shepard Druid, to make him an excelent healer that can still bring down a serious beating. Arguebly the most...

D&D 5E (2014) Your thoughts on these homebrew spells

The original formula was "Take xD4 fire damage and gain twice that amount + spellcasting modifier as temp HP". After Baldur's_Underdark suggestion I changed it to two seperate dice rolls to increase the outcome variations a bit. Baldurs_Underdark calculation works in that old system though. For...

D&D 5E (2014) Your thoughts on these homebrew spells

Yeah, they are ment more as a in-the-moment protection spell. A bit like the Shield spell but then with temporary HP instead of AC (and targateble on other people). I can see if I can tweek the language to reflect that better. I'm not sure it's really exploitable, there are other pre-battle...

D&D 5E (2014) Your thoughts on these homebrew spells

This spell was specificly designed to be used before people go down, not after the fact. If someone is downed and you cast a Sigil on them they take a death save and get x amount of >temporary< hp. As far as I know (and atleast how we play it) temporary hitpoints does nothing to get a person...

D&D 5E (2014) Your thoughts on these homebrew spells

yeah, I can get behind that idea. My DM does like fitting in dice rolls where he can, plus it would give the other player agency over the reward he is getting by letting them roll for the temp hp dice, instead of just saying "you take x less damage on that attack".

D&D 5E (2014) Your thoughts on these homebrew spells

Very true, I definatly should have updated that wording when I switched to reaction. What are peoples knee-jerk reactions when they read the numbers + effect though? Does it seem too spammable and opressive? Would you be psyched to have someone in your party providing the effect? Do you think...

D&D 5E (2014) Your thoughts on these homebrew spells

Hey people, I've been working on these variations to Healing Word and Mass Healing Word for a bit to fit the Tiefling Divine Soul i'm currently playing in Storm King's Thunder and could use some input on them before presenting them to my DM. The basic idea behind them was that; -I wanted to...

D&D 5E (2014) Balance at high levels - and a possible house rule

I think you could give most melee classes a Whirlwind-style attack @ lvl 11 (or equally powerful defensive ability) and a lot of the (percieved) disparity between melee and casters would be gone. Cuz let's be real, melee just want their own fireball-effect ^_^

    Polearm Master Fighter Multiclassing Help

What makes you think Bow's are not an option? You have a 16 dex and extra attack. Meanwhile as a cleric with 13 wisdom your spell hit/ DC/ spells known wil be abysmal. My advice would be to pick up a bow to sort out your ranged issues and get the Great Weapon Master feat at level 8 to increase...

    D&D 5E (2014) Divine Soul experiences

Very true. I didn't want to get too much into the really high level stuff cuz I didn't know wether it would be relevant to his campaign but if you get there you have some pretty unique options that normally no one but a cleric gets. And those summon spells are very nice indeed, worth going...

    D&D 5E (2014) Divine Soul experiences

I don't think it was necesary from a mechanical PoV to be viable, but did help me to fill a more particular niche for myself (a more melee focussed approach) and pick up some flavour spells. To be clear though, I had to skip on the tiefling spells (and fire resistance) to get the magic initiate...

    D&D 5E (2014) How to not murder my PC's

I was going to point out the same thing, though I guess it was a typo and he prefers B? But that still assumes that most DM's have several groups that all play in an inter-connected story line though....

    D&D 5E (2014) Divine Soul experiences

Divine Souls rule! My favorite Sorc subclass by far. I'm playing one in a Storm King's Thunder campaign atm (Lvl 5 DS Sorc, lvl 2 Hexblade Lock) and I really dig it. As for your specific questions: 1 For sure. "Divine power" gives a huge range of background potential. Personally me and my DM...

    D&D 5E (2014) How to not murder my PC's

That "let's go grind boars in the forest"-plan still requires the DM and the rest of the party to feel the same way, and create/ do that content. If they just want to continue with the story then some house-rules might suit better.

    D&D 5E (2014) Lore Mastery Wizard

Good point, I quite liked that implementation. It's also much more likely to get printed since the Lore Wizard itself hasn't been revisited since it's release years ago and is dead in the water. The fact that some of it's subclass mechanics (like changing elemental types) are being used in new...
