    D&D 5E (2014) Way of the Force

Lol, yeah.. it'd probably need a quite rewrite to also encompass ranged attack roll spells, and that wouldn't be so elegant. Alas, my scorching ray-reflecting laser kamas will just have to wait. ;) In any event, both of these monks you've shared are fun little subclasses. THanks!

    D&D 5E (2014) Way of the Force

Magic missile is auto-hit, no attack roll necessary. Most other (non-AoE) attack spells cast at range, like scorching ray, require a "ranged spell attack."

    D&D 5E (2014) Way of the Force

Do you mean replace "Magic Missile" with "ranged spell attacks"? Or change to "Magic Missile and ranged spell attacks"? (Sorry, I don't yet have a gut feel for what "make sense" in 5e. But I do dig these monk classes of yours. :) )

    Satanic Panic = 60 minutes D&D special ( 1985)

I was introduced to D&D in 1983 by a cousin of mine, the son of a minister. This happened in Oklahoma, where the Satanic Panic was a real thing. So far as I know, my parents never had any problem with the game. I only had a couple brushes with anti-D&D folks in the first couple years I played...

    D&D 3.x Gnome Poll

Wow.. this necro is pushing limits of even true resurrection. I have houseruled out gnomes for settings where there are no gnomes. Other than that, no. I having nothing against gnomes, in general... at least up until a purple-haired one slaps on some aviator goggles WoW-style, hops in an...

What did Hubble see on your birthday?

Hehe. Planetary nebulae are favorites of mine, lol. 🤗

What did Hubble see on your birthday?

@Son of the Serpent It's a proto-planetary nebula-- a dying star shedding its atmosphere-- called the Red Rectangle.

    D&D and the rising pandemic

Given all the human failures you noted, the $64k question is "How do the police robots feel about all this?"

    D&D and the rising pandemic

It doesn't really go into the social or economic ramifications, but here's an article that discusses some modeling of future Covid-19 outbreaks as it relates to immunity (or lack thereof). https://arstechnica.com/science/2020/04/new-model-looks-at-what-might-happen-if-sars-cov-2-is-here-to-stay/...

Just occurred to me that a choice on this poll should have been "My hat of d02 know no limit" edit: just ninja'd by @CleverNickName !

    D&D and the rising pandemic

Looks like IHME has raised their projections for cumulative US covid deaths from 61k to 69k, with the usual big uncertainties and "first wave" qualifier.

D&D 5E (2014) When RAW goes too far

Hmmm... I wonder if Covid-related self-isolation is causing a spike in rules-lawyering?

    D&D 3.x Edition Experience - Did/Do you Play 3rd Edtion D&D? How Was/Is it?

Oh yes! I loved that about item creation! It was a great framework to just slap stuff together and see what popped out. I found that process to be very inspirational, and I still do that conceptually, no matter the system. I think 3e is a nice system for learning to tinker, imo, because it has...

    D&D 3.x Edition Experience - Did/Do you Play 3rd Edtion D&D? How Was/Is it?

It's basically just D&D in which PC advancement is capped at 6th level. Here's the original an ENWorld thread: https://www.enworld.org/threads/e6-the-game-inside-d-d.206323/ And a link to the "white paper" (PDF) on the topic by Ryan Stoughton, the person who sort of formalized the concept...

    D&D 3.x Edition Experience - Did/Do you Play 3rd Edtion D&D? How Was/Is it?

Measured in both number of hours played and system mastery, 3/3.5e has been my main D&D system. I really enjoyed it; and eventually went on to PF1, which I enjoyed even more. The edition's "crunchiness" really appealed to me back then-- and is what I dislike about it now. The vast network of...

D&D 5E (2014) When RAW goes too far

Right.. if it's thick enough you don't sink, it's still like slamming into a 1000 degree concrete slab. Boiled egg or fried egg: Either is pretty bad for the egg! 😅
