I thought about something like this. As was suggested up-thread, "Telekinesis" is an obvious fit. What are some other spells that would be good fits?

Not totally following this. Can you elaborate?

The one thing I don't like in the current Ancient Weapon is that it doesn't require you to make the weapon.

Sorry, busy day.

What I mean is, rather than taking an existing weapon and making it glow and do force damage, make a list of new weapons that have those properties, and perhaps the ability to be hidden easily, that the character gains proficiency in, and must build.

But, the attunement part (where you get a +1 bonus) works with any weapon the character is proficient in.

Also, it would be cool if there were room for permanent enhancement of the weapon, at higher level, to model having more strongly attuned the weapon.

Or, you could maybe empower the weapon with bonus damage by spending ki/concentration (battle Strike) as a new ki feature, and gain +1 to hit at mid level (5?), +2 at lvl11 or whatever, etc.

But I know that adds more moving parts to the subclass.

Oh, I forgot the first part of your question, @Elfcrusher

I'll have to look through the books, but surely there must be a spell or two that push enemies around, like 4e had thunderwave for wizards that was very Force Blast.

I wish there were things like "lesser telekenisis", or that it were a weaker spell at a lower spell level, and got more powerful with higher slots. Having just the one spell, with no low level equivalent other than Mage hand...is a bummer.

Another random thought: I know you were saying Lightsaber Forms aren't canon anymore (I thought gmey were referenced in Clone Wars or Rebels), but giving them some fighting style choices would make them feel more like Jedi, to me at least.

Perhaps that could be a feat, though.

oh! I also think some buff spells could work as Force Powers, as well. And a Battle Strike power that is basically like Smite? Also Absorb Elements is similar to Negate/Absorb Energy.

Find Object is still a spell, right? Feels very "force perception" to me.

Spend a Ki to gain Expertise on Passive Perception and Investigate checks, concentration, up to 10min.

Same, but gain Darkvision.

Throw Weapon should be pretty simple. 1 or 2 ki to throw a sword and return it to your hand?

Is there a Disarm Spell?

IIRC, there is a spell where you just throw a magic rock at someone, right?

Seems my original post is too old to edit, but based on a comment in my The Blind Monk thread, I think I'd change Ancient Weapon to allow you to use Deflect Missiles on ranged spell attacks.

Do you mean replace "Magic Missile" with "ranged spell attacks"?
Or change to "Magic Missile and ranged spell attacks"?

(Sorry, I don't yet have a gut feel for what "make sense" in 5e. But I do dig these monk classes of yours. :) )

I meant all ranged spell attacks, not just magic missile. (I think "ranged spell attack" technically restricts it to spells that require attack rolls, and excludes those with saving throws. Anybody confirm this?)

And thanks for the vote of confidence!

Lol, yeah.. it'd probably need a quite rewrite to also encompass ranged attack roll spells, and that wouldn't be so elegant. Alas, my scorching ray-reflecting laser kamas will just have to wait. ;)

In any event, both of these monks you've shared are fun little subclasses. THanks!
