    D&D 5E (2024) Exception-Based Design in D&D: When Rules Enable Rule Lawyers

Reading the article I mostly just felt like it was an overblown reaction to situations that theoretically could come up, but that I've never seen be a problem before. I loved your Tips for DMs and Tips for Players at the end though! That portion was very well thought out and expanding on these...

D&D 5E (2024) Which Creature Type Would You Most Like a Fizban's/Bigby's Style Book About?

I'd LOVE a book on Mechanus lore, that's an instant buy for me. Warforged are interesting to me as well but aren't they completely unrelated? Might be an excellent book possibility to compile various Construct lore into one volume. I just don't see much potential for lore about Beasts, but...

D&D 5E (2024) Which Creature Type Would You Most Like a Fizban's/Bigby's Style Book About?

This is a great question! My first answer is that I'd love to see any category listed but handled more from a Combat Tactics / Monster Hunting / Component Harvesting perspective than what I think you're asking in terms of handling the Lore. Answering from the perspective of similarity to...

D&D 5E (2024) No more Cleric and Sorc dips!

Your 1 level dip options used to be: Cleric for heavy armor + pick a subclass Sorcerer for Con save proficiency + pick a subclass, access to Shield and Silvery Barbs Fighter for heavy armor and Con save proficiencies, at expense of spell progression Fighter dips are far more common now since...

Elon Musk Calls for Wizards of the Coast to "Burn in Hell" Over Making of Original D&D Passages

I don't think that was a jab at non-standard work hours - the original point was that if Musk is sleeping 8 hours a day (at any point during the 24hr period) then he doesn't have anywhere near the work ethic he forces his workers to have, and pretends that he himself has

    D&D 5E (2024) The Lackluster Ranger

You aren't missing anything. Rangers are OK, they are totally playable, but they are easily the weakest class in the game. Not by a gigantic margin, but enough to make it feel bad for anyone who loves playing them.

D&D 5E (2024) Can enemies or allies move through Conjure Animals?

The spell does not mention anything about this, so I would assume creatures can still move thru it just fine (other than taking damage). It both a) isn't specifically mentioned, and b) doesn't make sense (they are intangible animals), so I'd assume creatures can move thru. I don't understand...

D&D 5E (2024) How many magical rings can a single character wear and use?

From a quick DnD Beyond search: Animal Influence, Puzzler's Wit, Resistance*, Swimming, Three Wishes, Water Walking *This one alone could be 10 different rings with the various possible resistances

D&D 5E (2024) How many magical rings can a single character wear and use?

I would not put any limit on rings other than what naturally comes from limited attunement slots. Humans have 8 fingers, I'd assume most species are similar - if the DM is giving out more than 8 magical rings per person, there's a bigger problem

    D&D 5E (2024) What's Your Experience Like with '24?

That's a good question, I don't consider them to be base rules so I kind of forgot all about them. I'll amend my statement to "all of the new rules in the 2024 PHB are available for free" As far as I can tell, the complete Bastion rules are available for free in Pack Tactics' youtube video...

D&D 5E (2014) [House Rule] Swap an action for a bonus action

I don't see any problem with this* and have always allowed it, although this practically never happens. *Assuming you mean using two different bonus action abilities in the same turn, and not using the same bonus action twice. I would not allow the same bonus action twice

    D&D 5E (2024) What's Your Experience Like with '24?

Not exactly, I do like 5e quite a bit, I was more using that phrase because it is commonly used and describes the situation well enough. Whatever you thought of 5e before, it is slightly better polished now and you'll probably have a similar but slightly more positive opinion of it. But bottom...

    D&D 5E (2024) Least stereotypical species/ class combos?

Yeah isn't Dwarf one of the most common races to choose for Wizard because you get medium armor without a fighter or cleric dip?

    D&D 5E (2024) What's Your Experience Like with '24?

I would say it's almost exactly the same, except in a few areas where it is better. WotC successfully performed an excellent turd polishing. As far as pace of play goes, we have a couple players who were excruciatingly slow before, and they still are. Other players who were reasonably quick...

D&D 5E (2014) Dragon Dilemma - Opinions? Advice? All are welcome!

If it were me running this, I would let the players escape without the dragon attempting to attack. The dragon just got its ass kicked and would've lost badly if it hadn't fled. It wasn't even close - the dragon was at 10hp with two PCs still at full health. Why would the dragon assume it...

    D&D 5E (2024) No Appendix N Equivalent?

It is no more "impossible" today than it was 10 years ago when they included one in the 2014 PHB and a second one in the 2014 DMG. There is no "need" to mention everything, you have one page where you mention as much as you can fit. You can fit quick references to a hell of a lot of...

D&D 5E (2014) How Do You Feel About the Rate of New WotC Game Content for 5E DMs?

^This for me. I voted Dissatisfied but that is more about the quantity of GOOD content. I'd be fine with less books overall if it meant more high quality content that I actually cared to use

D&D 5E (2024) Alignment, Traits, and Roleplaying bennies

There are some (very few, but they do exist) mechanics in the game that impact depend on character alignment. With Rules As Written these mechanics are so rare that your route of ignoring alignment would not ever miss much, but I also try to homebrew in mechanics that depend on alignment, to...

D&D 5E (2024) Kobold Press posts 2024 DMG Hit Piece

Agreed let's not derail any further. The relevant point to the thread is that whether people love/hate WotC doesn't seem to have any predictive bearing on whether they take issue with the Kobold Press article
