    Monk flurry with alternate weapons

Proficiency and focus provide benefits of their own, without getting a "free" upgrade to flurrying. In particular, a fighter 1/monk 1 would be able to flurry with all martial weapons if you went with the proficiency requirement. Making it a feat of its own works pretty well, I've found...

Tell me why I'm wrong about grappling. Please.

Step 4 is not at the player's option. The only way to avoid moving into the opponent's space is for it to be impossible for some reason (you're webbed/entangled in place or something).

    Sling Stones?

That also works. Me and my silly science :) I think they didn't bother including weight for a bunch of rocks because they figured most PCs would carry bullets, and if you run out, you don't so much pick up a pouchful of rocks as scrounge for them as you go, so weight isn't really an issue.

    Sling Stones?

Sling stones do less damage because they are less dense than lead bullets, but about the same size. So yeah, lighter than bullets. Half as light? I dunno. I just googled, and found that many types of stone are 1/5 as dense as lead, so anything from that to 1/2 could work (sling stones might...

    PC vs. PC XP

No, I think awarding xp is to reward playing, reward overcoming challenges by the party, and let players enjoy advancing their characters. It also happens to be the only mechanical carrot/stick I have to encourage cooperation, so it has to serve double duty for that for me. That's why I noted...

    PC vs. PC XP

I would not award experience for beating other PCs in combat. There are no rules to back me up on this, or to back up the other PoV, save the fact that if you're trying to foster a cooperative atmosphere, awarding experience for that combat would not do so. Motives don't matter.

Converting True 20 damage to d20...some roadblocks

You can go based off how these worked in MnM, which the true20 rules were derived from. MnM addressed this with the power level cap, which doesn't really exist in true20. Probably just don't allow them to stack, say they overlap. Give them the Evasion (MnM1e)/Defensive Roll(2e I think)...

    noblility ranks need help

Ah, yes, a boxed set that has been out of print for 20 years, he should pick that right up.

    Spellcasters and AoO

The spirit of the immediate action rules is that they allow an action that is: a) outside your normal round b) in reponse to some event c) only one immediate action per event If you view an attack of opportunity and an immediate action as refinements of the same kind of timing rule (I do), then...

    Refreshing Attacks of Opportunity

It is pretty rare, though there was an example given in the very first post of this thread. It becomes much less rare if you are using, for example, the parry system from Dragon magazine, which uses up AoO attempts as parry attempts. But that doesn't make any difference, I was just attempting...

    OGC Wiki (merged)

Yes, Phil, it's obviously a massive conspiracy by WotC to put you out of business, because they're worried about your pdfs outcompeting their latest full-color, hardcover release. Edit: That probably looked like I was denigrating Phil's books, which I'm not. My point was, WotC sells more books...

If people come in do that, the wiki will become moderated by trustworthy users, and it won't be a problem.

    Refreshing Attacks of Opportunity

Immediate and swift actions, which is actually what prompted this question in the first place.

    Actions and Reactions

You should see the part I took out that was too complex :) Quickened spells are swift actions, as already defined in the sources on swift actions; they are not immediate actions. Yes, because their turn is over, and the second immediate action eats the swift action from their following turn...

    Refreshing Attacks of Opportunity

Without the combat reflexes feat, you get one AoO per round. Does this refresh at the beginning of your turn or the end? IE, before my initiative, I take an attack of opportunity. On my turn, I move through a threatened square; they (for whatever reason) try to disarm me and don't have...

    Ohio GameDay IV planning

Dayton was not well attended by me because I got sick, as I recall. Bleh. I had been planning on making it out there.

    Interested in alternate skill rules.

You can pretty much wholesale swap in any skill system into a d20 game as long as you use it consistently. For instance, you could take the new World of Darkness skill list (24 skills, 8 each physical, mental, and social) or the Exalted skill list (25 skills, weighted towards a kung-fu sword...

Why I only buy open content

No, but you don't have anywhere near the moral high ground you seem to be trying to claim. Just because you make your living this way doesn't make you a martyr if someone else wants to reuse your OGC.

Why I only buy open content

And that's the nice thing about game mechanics, for you. They aren't copyrightable, as they are an idea, and ideas can't be copyrighted. The description of them is, as is any substantial creative work. You don't have to have never seen his work. Just implement the idea on your own, and...

Why I only buy open content

Phil, you've been threatening this for quite a while, and nobody is surprised to see you do this. Nothing about the situation has changed; the OGL says the same thing as it did a couple of days ago, and people could have put all your OGC online last month, they same as they can today. The only...
