"Generally" is the key term. You might provoke an AoO and as an AoO someone else might provoke from you. Thus, in that case it matters. E.g. You move past a guard and he wants to trip you. So, yes, you might get an AoO during your turn.

I don't see how unless you're actually postulating something patently incorrect like AoO's are refreshed at the EOR marker.

I'm not postulating that, Shallown was. I assume by your tone then that you agree with me, with my correction as noted above?

Since you're not going to be taking an AoO until AFTER your turn is over it doesn't matter if your AoO is refreshed at the start of your turn or at the end. Again, check me if I'm wrong, but your own actions on your turn can't FORCE an AoO for you against someone else - only the actions of others allows you to take an AoO, meaning again that it doesn't matter when your AoO is "refreshed".

There may be some odd, tortured situation that I'm not thinking of that makes it possible for you to start using AoO's on your own turn but...

It is pretty rare, though there was an example given in the very first post of this thread.

It becomes much less rare if you are using, for example, the parry system from Dragon magazine, which uses up AoO attempts as parry attempts. But that doesn't make any difference, I was just attempting to see if there was an actual rule about this; there apparently isn't, since the vagaries of the timing system hadn't been fully explored, even when 3.5 was released. So I'm both free and forced to house-rule it in the way most useful to me
