RPGS in the news more these days?

I think as a whole our interests are becoming more main stream. We're seeing more references not only in the news but in other media streams as well. If the Heroes of Cosplay succeeds I wonder how long before we see a show about LARPing, perhaps Vampire the Requiem or similar vein.

Now that both books are out... 13th Age vs Numenera

Anyone get some quality game time in that's helped make your mind up further?

    Biggest Franchises Without an RPG

I stand corrected then. I Kickstarted the Cortex Hack book and everything I saw was based off of people hacking Marvel and Leverage. Thanks for pointing that out.

    Biggest Franchises Without an RPG

I think it worked out for MWP pretty well from the popularity of the Cortex system it used, as well as the the price point to get into the game. Marvel's problem is Marvel. They have never kept a license for an extreme long term with anyone in the past with maybe the exception of one company...

Now that both books are out... 13th Age vs Numenera

Has anyone heard anything out of Gencon concerning 13th Age? Only thing I saw was the guy giving the acceptance speech for the Ennie had a 13th Age t-shirt on. I haven't seen any posts by anyone about it though news in general seems quiet this year from the convention, looking forward to...

Now that both books are out... 13th Age vs Numenera

I agree and most players in that position probably will stay with the previous game they are on if they don’t want to move on or will completely move to a different game. No, I concur with you in that it will be a few years, but there is definitely starting to be rules conflict in the game...

Now that both books are out... 13th Age vs Numenera

See that's kind of a fallacy as 1st ed had about as many books, including Deities & Demigods, DragonLance Adventures, Dungeon Masters Guide, Dungeoneer's Survival Guide, Fiend Folio, Greyhawk Adventures, Legends & Lore, Manual of the Planes, Monster Manual, Monster Manual II, Oriental...

Now that both books are out... 13th Age vs Numenera

I would agree that in terms of wargames, but it hasn't been a mainstay RPG which is my point. If you ask which game is the pick of the crowd you'll either come out with Star Wars on top by a somewhat decent margin or it will be pretty close for a few games that are popular.

    Biggest Franchises Without an RPG

Bourne would be difficult since it tends to focus on one person trying to remember who they are amidst the whole espionage story. What about Adventure Time? Seems like a good spin that would help bring kids into the hobby. Futurama might also work as a campy sci-fi game.

    Biggest Franchises Without an RPG

James Bond was done way back in the day and as for general Disney, no. Thundercats would be an interesting one I think. I'm sure there are more IPs out there.

Now that both books are out... 13th Age vs Numenera

I will agree for the most part, however I know quite a few that feel burned by how WotC(Hasbro) has handled D&D recently that they don't plan on going back. Monte's books tend to fill a niche that is for certain and while AU/AE are not popular as D&D I think that is because they fall into the...

Anyone else finding Easter eggs while reading the book?

Looks like Monte has hidden some Easter eggs within Numenera. I believe I've found a couple paying homage to D&D. The first is a play off of the Rod of Seven Parts but only in the nature of the quest to find all The Seven Pyramids. It says in the book that for some unknown reason they were...

How did you come to EN World?

I started near day one after it was announced on the original Gaming Report site that you could find 3e rumors here. I then trolled the boards for nearly 3-4 years before becoming active.

The Prettiest Book? [AKA Mr/Miss Prettiest RPG 2013]

I went with Numenera because it just has a better presentation and feel to it. Star Wars looks cartoonish compared to past Star Wars books, but also has a vibe similar to some WotC products. I think they should have taken the time and created something truly unique and establish their own...

    Game visuals for Numenera

Here are some resources I've found that would work well for in game pictures or give some ideas of what the world would look like beyond the map in the book. Nice future terraform picture Possible Aeon Priest A Jack io9 article, with map, talking about Pangea Ultima. Another Pangea Ultima Map...

Now that both books are out... 13th Age vs Numenera

Here's an interesting observation I just made. They posted on the Numenera Facebook page that they sent out nearly 17,000 pdfs for the core book (they did the players guide the next day). The Kickstarter only had 4,658 backers. I'm pretty sure the retailers only got one copy of the PDF, but...

Now that both books are out... 13th Age vs Numenera

Ok, both books are out now and people have had a chance to read through enough to get a good feel for the systems. Which do you see yourself running now? I really like both games and am torn between which to run though leaning more toward Numenera, mainly because it is definitely a new twist...
