Specific stuff on natural cave systems and the various hazards they contain. Including flooding, crawl spaces, getting stuck etc.

D&D General Dragon Editor-in-Chief Kim Mohan Passes

RIP, Kim Mohan, and thank you for everything you did. D&D touches lives and you were part of making that happen.

TSR The Full & Glorious History of NuTSR

That DHSM post is truly foul. LaNasa must have so much hatred in his heart. The DHSM is nothing to do with our hobby; it’s just a loudhailer for far-right hate speech.

D&D General TSR to WoTC shift--OR--the de-prioritization on Exploration spells/classes

Scouting things out went even further than spells like Wizard Eye. It was possible to seek out and hire sages, who had % chance of knowing things; all used to plan dungeon tactics more effectively. Maybe this was partially linked to roots in wargaming?

Which adventure was your first? Ever itch to play/DM it again?

Keep on the Borderlands was my first to DM as well. I’ve run it again recently with my tabletop group as a “filler” game if one of the players can’t make the session and we therefore postpone our ongoing campaigns. I love it immensely. As a player, I’m not sure it was the first module, but I...

The Mask of Mask (updated 01/21/2023)

Wow! Your players certainly are awesome, but they are equally lucky to have you as a DM. This story hour is superb. I'm not sure who/what Alaya is, but I'm nervous.

D&D General How Weird Do You Like Your D&D

I tend to sit in the 3-5 range, where your grandmother fought in the border wars and her old sword, which she used to slay the Wraith of Scarhold, lies in the old family chest. Occasionally dipping into a bit of Elric-esque psychedelic fantasy on the seas of fate.

The Mask of Mask (updated 01/21/2023)

The world looks fascinating. The whole story about warehouses of food stuffed for political/economic power brought back my old high school politics teacher talking about Henri de Saint Simon witnessing grain ships waiting offshore during a famine till prices rose high enough. His world didn’t...

    D&D 5E (2014) Choose 3 to protect you (a poll)

The four 20th level adventurers give so much powerful flexibility, particularly if they know what they’re facing and can “ spell up” accordingly. The red dragon gives awesome AoE and the Solars are so powerful. Would be a tough fight but I’d be confident in my team. Great thread concept btw.

D&D General So which 2e adventures are beloved?

Night Below was superb. Return to the Tomb of Horrors was so dark and creepy. I loved it.

D&D General Greyhawk map by Deven Rue

I like your analogy: FR is the city park. There are paved walkways, an ice cream van, toilet facilities, lots of people and “don’t walk on the grass” signs. Plenty of benches to sit on to drink your cappuccino. Greyhawk is the wilder bit of a national park. You sit on a fallen log to drink your...
