    The Warlock's Curse

Silly rabbit! Multiple instances of striker bonus damage per round without bothering with minor actions or positioning to set it up is for PHB2 classes! :p

    Expertise justification?

So Weapon Expertise is fine, it's just the PHB1 feats that suck? Still not very encouraging of trust in the designers' decisions.

    Expertise justification?

Refresh my memory, what was wrong with it? It didn't have BAB or had some crazy jump in BAB like +8, +9, +20, something like that, right?

    Expertise justification?

I was impressed at how fun the warlord's Commander's Strike was, despite being basically "I don't do anything, but you get to go again, yay!" I think the key is that it's an active power that you have to choose to use in each instance, rather than something like the (3E) bard's inspire courage...

monk preview: another expertise feat - talk about stealth errata!

I think you missed the final clause in Elric's feats. ;)

monk preview: another expertise feat - talk about stealth errata!

Which would you choose first, the one in PHB1 or the one in PHB2? Assuming your answer is PHB2, doesn't this reversal strike you as odd?

    Expertise justification?

Combat Reflexes is also a published feat in the core book. It provides a lower bonus that only applies to a subset of situations and has a prerequisite, making it obviously, undeniably weaker. And one of the goals of 4E was balance. So what's up? Is Combat Reflexes hopelessly useless? Is Weapon...

monk preview: another expertise feat - talk about stealth errata!

Do I want +1 to opportunity attacks from Combat Reflexes, or +1 to all weapon attacks rising to +2 and +3 later from Weapon Expertise? Or, on second thought, maybe +1 to all weapon and implement attacks rising to +2 and +3 later from Focused Expertise? Delicious choices!

Incarnum had flavour? In any case, it seems to me that the first thing to do if you want to show that the concept of ki isn't necessarily tied to Asian trappings is to stop using a real world Asian word for it.

I've never seen anyone say that the 3E druid had a weapon-using schtick before. Sure, they had shillelagh and flame blade, but everyone I know considered that just something to fill time until they finally got wild shape.

What class would be ki-powered, but not Asian in flavour?

    Shiftshiftshifting swordmage

A neat combo I just noticed: A 1st-level swordmage with Luring Strike (Arcane Power) and White Lotus Evasion (Dragon #374) that's adjacent to an enemy can shift 1 square, attack the enemy, shift 1 square while making the enemy follow, then shift two squares, at-will. With the 2nd-level utility...

A Question for the 25 and under crowd - What have you read?

I'm 27, so I didn't vote, but from the list, I've read Vance, Leiber, Howard, Tolkien, Moorcock, Mieville and Pratchett. Tolkien got me into the whole fantasy thing, and reading Vance, Leiber and Moorcock has noticeably enhanced my enjoyment of D&D by finally shedding light on the origin of...

Swordmage Warding vs. Armor of Faith

Unless you count the hp and surges from high Con for a shielding swordmage, swordmages have 1 hp more and 1 healing surge more; in addition to their defender-like AC, avengers get defender-like hp.

Swordmage Warding vs. Armor of Faith

I admit I can't think of any such avenger utility powers, but Bond of Retribution (attack avenger, deal damage to you ally), Avenging Echo (attack avenger, take damage), Executioner's Cloak (avenger becomes invisible) come to mind as powers that give the avenger survivability, in addition to...

Swordmage Warding vs. Armor of Faith

Armor of Faith grants +3 AC while not in heavy armour Swordmage Warding grants +3 AC while not in heavy armour and with a free hand, +1 AC with both hands occupied, which turns off should you fall unconscious. For a feat, you can enhance Armor of Faith by +1 per tier. For a feat (if you have...

    All-arcane party

Two questions: Do Melee Training and Longsword Proficiency do anything really worthwhile or is it more of a concept thing? You did mention charges, but in most other cases, it seems Thunderwave would work at least as well. Where is Rolling Thunder from, and what does it do?
