Purple Index Cards: On-the-Fly Setting and Plot Collaboration

I barely got to play 7th Sea... I remember a ridiculously long character generation process (one of those laborious twenty-question things) followed by a pedestrian combat. Care to share what you think I should crib?

D&D 4E iPlay4e: printable sheets, combat tracking, campaign planning

Really? It looked pretty exciting to me too, but once I fired it up, it turned into a usability nightmare. How has it helped you?

Giving a choice of stats to older races

I hope the Arcane Controllers of the Coast actually do this, maybe in the Essentials books. I like your ideas, but I'd try to get more Con/Int options in besides Genasi & Shadar-kai. Maybe make Tieflings' fixed plus Int instead of Cha, give Warforged the option of Int, something like that.

Purple Index Cards: On-the-Fly Setting and Plot Collaboration

tendrils: Fantastic, you don't know how happy it makes me to hear that somebody outside my group actually used these in a game. ^.^ And welcome to ENWorld, by the way! Achievements could probably use an overhaul. Go all the way and have 25-odd of them, like a 360 game, written on a sheet...

    Ritually Speaking article

There are so many magic items out there, they'd need a whole book just to get rituals done for all of them, but this idea is fantastic. I'm going to brainstorm a set of rituals corresponding to the magic items my party currently has, and introduce an artificer NPC who can sell such ritual...

    Condition Cards, Part 2

I am surprised and amused that "You can't flank an enemy" isn't included in the Petrified condition. "Look out, Bob, there's a statue behind you!" Great work, weem! Looking forward to the final edition. Here's a thought on the Ongoing Damage card: you've got that dial (clock? speedometer? I...

    May Daggermaster Nerf Rumour

I'm looking forward to a Daggermaster nerf. I don't mind optimization, but the ever-popular Sorcerer/Rogue--Daggermaster (of which we have one in the Paragon game I'm playing in) feels like a bug exploit, which irritates me.

Purple Index Cards: On-the-Fly Setting and Plot Collaboration

Gumphrey: Yeah, part of my reason for posting was to see if anyone had any suggestions for new cards. There haven't been any yet, though. We have started to see repeats in my game (an encounter or two into 6th level at this point), though thankfully a lot of them are versatile. "Strange...

    Corellon's Boon of Arcane Might

I'm hunting for a flavorful benefit to give a swordmage PC in my game for training under a renowned master swordmage, and Corellon's Boon of Arcane Might looks like a lot of fun. I'm a little puzzled about how it's intended to work, though. 1) Is the encounter-power-as-daily supposed to be...

    Today's CB Patch

In a sense, it's the other way around. In order to entice people to actually buy the books instead of using CB/MB/Compendium for digital-only gaming, there's a lag time. If you want the latest and greatest as soon as possible, you've got to buy the dead-tree edition.

    Fate Point Cards (Download included)

I think if you start with this sort of mechanic in play from the outset, it does change the tone and expectations of the game. People are capable of changing roles and perspectives mid-stream; they do it all the time already, just going from in-character to out-of-character and back. When you've...

D&D 4E Major iplay4e update! Manage campaigns, full text search, UI redesign, tablet view

I posted a dnd4e forums bug report about it, but I see the duplicate character lines thing too, and I never used a beta anything. It happens when I use the "replace dnd4e file" functionality to level somebody up.

D&D 4E iPlay4e again? Yep: note editing, roll all button, email invites, link review system

That tag line is a bit of an overstatement. It's not a virtual tabletop or anything. It is, however, a very slick little character management interface. I love the Compendium integration and embedding capabilities. Looking forward to when they implement character edit sharing between users!

D&D 4E Major iplay4e update! Manage campaigns, full text search, UI redesign, tablet view

Ooh, how do you track daily item uses? I haven't been able to figure that out, thought it wasn't supported.

    MP2: Cunning Sneak/Stealth questions

    (1) I would read it as requiring the normal Becoming Hidden rules. You attack, then duck back out of sight and make your Stealth check. If you've got an Action Point, you can make another attack from hiding maybe... then use your move action to go hide again, that sort of thing. ^.^ (2) "Hidden...

    action point in pvp?

I had my Artful Dodger go up against the party Fighter in a tournament in one game. She won. Had to use little-used tricks like the in-combat Bluff feint to keep up the CA, making it an entertaining fight. ^.^

Purple Index Cards: On-the-Fly Setting and Plot Collaboration

Maybe increase the font size on the card text and decrease it some on the card titles? Might alleviate some of the trouble with too-long titles, and make the cards a little more readable.

    General consensus on expertise feats

If you're putting everything into increasing to-hit chance, why wouldn't you pick Expertise early on, if not first, for feats?

Purple Index Cards: On-the-Fly Setting and Plot Collaboration

Hooray! I'll have to try printing these off, see how they look. Thanks for doing a bit of my work for me, ha!

Purple Index Cards: On-the-Fly Setting and Plot Collaboration

Nice, thanks much! Looking forward to seeing what you've done with them. I'm not sure what would be a good card back title for the main deck, either, since it's still a mix of a few different things. Maybe "Twists"?
