D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

I didn't say that you said that. I do say, however, that that's my 3e, 4e and 5e experience.

D&D 5E (2014) I feel like the surveys gaslit WotC about """"Backwards Compatibility""""

Second hand information? Yeah, it's the information in the OP. I'm reacting to it. I also made that caveat. Twice. Funny that you somehow missed that. You have a funny tolerance for what you consider a "rant."

D&D 5E (2014) I feel like the surveys gaslit WotC about """"Backwards Compatibility""""

I don't care; I'm not interested in playing 5.5, and only grudgingly willing to play in a 5e game. But clearly, based on the details in the OP, these two aren't really backwards compatible. If they're not, then WotC shouldn't have run around promising something that they couldn't really deliver...

D&D 5E (2014) I feel like the surveys gaslit WotC about """"Backwards Compatibility""""

I'm not sure what "a lot of people" means, or if those are the same "lot of people" who demanded backwards compatibility (allegedly.) I don't think the surveys gaslit WotC about backwards compatibility, I think WotC gaslit the players about backwards compatibility, which was clearly a strong...

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

There's a lot of space between the false binary of "rock, paper, scissors" and "complex tactical grid-based combat that plays like a skirmish wargame and takes hours for simple combats to be resolved." I mean, I get your point, and to some degree I agree with it, but I strongly dislike the level...

    D&D 5E (2024) What's Your 2026 WotC D&D Wishlist?

Obviously. My point is that clearly the artists retain the rights to do so.

What makes a TTRPG purchase "worth it" to you?

Who knows? I've made several purchases recently that I know for a fact that I won't use and may not even read. But I wanted to have a copy for "posterity" or whatever. I like buying stuff.

    D&D 5E (2024) What's Your 2026 WotC D&D Wishlist?

The artists sell prints of their work, though, so I'm not sure that the rights situation as as clear cut as that. I've had my eye on decorating my room with a bunch of Larry Elmore prints for some time, and I'll probably pull the trigger soonish. They probably have some kind of deal with the...

D&D 5E (2014) If you could run or play in any D&D 5e campaign right now, which would it be?

I'm in a Tyranny of Dragons game now, but I joined an existing group in a recently started campaign after relocating... I otherwise probably wouldn't have picked that, if I could have had my way. Of the existing 3e campaigns, I think maybe Ghosts of Saltmarsh would be up my alley right now. The...

D&D General Sandbox and/or/vs Linear campaigns

Indeed. Spergy fixating on pedantry is pretty much always a sign of a bad faith attempt at discussion. I see it and immediately disengage these days. Life's too short to waste on such silliness.

WotC Would you buy WotC products produced or enhanced with AI?

Your head is so far up... excuse me, so far down the rabbit hole, that you can't even see that he's calling you out for playing word games. Using words correctly is not "word games". Using emotionally laden but dialectically bankrupt words to score cheap rhetorical points is the word game...

D&D General Do You Play Out Every Combat?

Yes, always. D&D is specifically geared towards combat in most editions of the game, especially every edition since 3e. If you want to "skip" over the combat, D&D is a poor choice. If the combat is "too easy" to bother with actually running it, then actually skip it and don't include it at all...

WotC Would you buy WotC products produced or enhanced with AI?

Probably not. It's not a deal-breaker. But given that most WotC is already poorly conceived corporate slop anyway, having AI do it hardly seems likely to be very noticeably worse.

What Show Should Have Only Had One Season?

Irregardless of the averse affect that their vocabulary has on the cannon of the English language, I ascent to their use because we understood you're intent.

What Show Should Have Only Had One Season?

Rings of Power and Wheel of Time. Frankly, they shouldn't have had even the first season. But after the first season, they certainly shouldn't have had another.

D&D General If Nentir Vale were in the Forgotten Realms, where would they be?

It doesn't really matter, though, because none of that was ever used in any D&D product. Unless you count the Seal of Kara Kul, or whatever exactly that novel was called, a D&D product. And then then, that novel just used the rest of that stuff as off-hand references.

D&D General If Nentir Vale were in the Forgotten Realms, where would they be?

I said that Nentir Vale was a setting. Because it is. I also linked to specifically the Chris Perkins post. I dunno, man, it seems like you're going out of your way to interpret the word setting in a weirdly specific way that's clearly not what anyone else meant. No, that's not what setting...

D&D General If Nentir Vale were in the Forgotten Realms, where would they be?

I was going to make some comment about 4e physics being different than real life physics, but... you're right. I got the formula dyslexia-ed in my head.

D&D General If Nentir Vale were in the Forgotten Realms, where would they be?

Yes, of course. You seem to have somehow missed the point of this exercise. Chris Perkins said in an old twitter post that Nentir Vale was originally meant to be in the forgotten realms. I'm asking where people think it makes sense for it to have been, if that had in fact happened. Nothing...

D&D General If Nentir Vale were in the Forgotten Realms, where would they be?

I clearly know that since the post that you responded to had me saying that already. Also, the OP has Chris Perkins saying that Nentir Vale was originally going to be put in the Forgotten Realms. Your focus on the "planet" is a non sequitur and a red herring. It has nothing whatsoever to do with...
