Critical Role Critical Role: Amazon Orders 2 Seasons Of The Legend Of Vox Machina

And for the people saying "Prime is a terrible deal and I already have Netflix"... You don't have to subscribe to Prime to watch stuff on Amazon. It just means that instead of seeing the little "included with Prime" banner, you'll have to click on "$26.99 to purchase Season One" before you can...

    D&D 5E (2014) Limitations on Plane Shift?

Plane shift requires a forked metal rod worth at least 250gp attuned to the destination plane of existence as its material component. If they don't have that, it's a no-go. And it also sounds like you have to have at least some idea of where the destination is located, and even then, your...

Critical Role Critical Role: Amazon Orders 2 Seasons Of The Legend Of Vox Machina

Joe Manganiello's character Arkhan the Cruel crossed over from Critical Role's first campaign into the Descent into Avernus module, so there's already a canon connection from Critical Role to WotC content. I'd bet more is coming.

    D&D 5E (2014) Adjudicating Unusual Actions

At least in 5e, that's exactly the monk's 9th level ability - run across vertical surfaces and liquids without falling (As long as they don't stop in the middle of the move...) :)

    D&D 5E (2014) Adjudicating Unusual Actions

Good point. But I'd be tempted not to make it TOO difficult due to "rule of cool" and all, so if it were a coastal area or such I'd probably handwave it as "Oh look, you found a whaling harpoon." :)

    D&D 5E (2014) Adjudicating Unusual Actions

Seriously, the ballista example: "I tie the rope to the bolt and then around myself." = Sleight of hand check to secure the knots. DC 10 - you know how to tie knots, but you're in a hurry. "I fire the ballista at the dragon." = ranged attack with a siege weapon. +2 to AC due to the increased...

This is an underrated pun, right here. :D

    D&D 5E (2014) messy's 5e newbie questions thread

Ah, I see they Sage Adviced this one. However, their wording still isn't airtight: Two-Weapon Fighting (under melee attacks, not the fighting style, not the feat) says "When you take the Attack action and attack with a light melee weapon that you're holding in one hand, you can use a bonus...

    D&D 5E (2014) messy's 5e newbie questions thread

    45. And if bob the fighter was using a scimitar (or other light weapon) and happened to have, say, a dagger in his other hand, he could make a bonus action attack with the dagger each time he takes the attack action with the scimitar, for a total of ten attacks in a single turn. :D

D&D 5E (2014) Requiring players to know their character

Playing D&D should be fun. I highly suspect that a player made to feel like they're ruining everyone else's fun because they didn't study their character hard enough is probably a player that's not having fun. Character sheet apps are a mixed bag. It's great because they automatically calculate...

D&D General Why would a Druid want money in a “gold for XP” game?

The druid can collect the gold and "spend" it by hoarding it in a bog. And then use it at an appropriate time to flood the market and tank the local kingdom's economy, returning "civilization" to a state of nature. :)

Electronic / computer app die rollers

I prefer actual dice. That said, if you have a player that can't math, or who likes to cast fireball but only has the one d6 and has to roll and roll and add and roll and add and roll and add and roll and add and roll and add and roll and add and roll and add every single time, then someone get...

    D&D 5E (2014) Advice on Books?

Also, just for completionism, the Acquisitons Inc. book has the Verdan race, five new character backgrounds, and about five new spells, and a boatload of fluff to fit characters into an Acq Inc-style campaign.

my players told me what they want in a rpg for the next campaign

Heck, listen to the first few podcasts of Acquisitons Incorporated. They start off running 4e and Chris Perkins does a pretty good job explaining the system to the players as they go.

    D&D 5E (2014) 16 pgs or Less

From what I can tell, older edition playstyles were better suited to just publishing "here's a random 10-page dungeon. Have someone show up at the local tavern, send your murderhobos here, and let them kill everything and take the loot and go home." Current style of play looks for a narrative...

D&D 5E (2014) Paladin just committed murder - what should happen next?

... for 5e I don't even write an alignment on my character sheet. Because in 5e "alignment" is only a broad reminder for the player as to how they designed their character's personality. It has no in-game effects (aside from "detect good/evil"). So, about the paladin in this case, look at it by...

D&D 5E (2014) When will WotC support unlinking abilities and skills?

TL;DR version: This idea is already supported by WotC. However, published material defaults to a "most-frequently-used" distribution that makes it easier for new players to grasp how the system works. Power users are encouraged to do whatever the heck they want.

    D&D 3.x Arcane domain spells

No. All the books referenced are for 5e.

    D&D 5E (2014) Making monks cool again

There's a whole section in the DMG about using alternate stats for ability checks, so any of this is allowable by RAW. Talk about it to the DM and then describe it appropriately: "I climb the wall using my dextrous monk training to find footholds and handholds invisible to my clumsy fighter...

    D&D 5E (2014) Spell Level Cap Below 9th

For sorcerers, one option is to allow a quickened spell on a bonus action PLUS a spell of any level with your action. (Don't restrict it to a spell + cantrip as RAW.) ... and in this kind of setting I'd definitely be spamming every spell at max level anyway. :)
