    Reducing randomness

I agree. Very nice tweak! :) Nice enough to be considered for the next edition I'd say. ;)

    Reducing randomness

Did that "Help me design a rule" thread inspire this? :) Anyway... One of the most glaring occurences of this is when two characters match ability versus ability. Usually, on a given roll, there are multiple modifiers that affect it, BAB, STR, Situation, etc.--so, when it comes down to the...

    Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Ballista)

Another option might be to treat it as a skill. Upon firing, make a skill roll versus a range dependent DC, on a success add BAB to the attack roll. Siege engine fire should be rare enough that the extra die roll won't slow things down--and it should help reflect the unpredictable nature of...

    Help me design a rule

I don't know why you'd want to do this either, but here goes... It seems that BAB is the value that would most likely increase to higher values, so there should be some way of limiting it. You could rule that the maximum useable BAB was equal to the sum of the other applicable modifiers. This...

    Gamma World Advances in D&D

I recently had this idea for my Basic D&D campaign, but I wasn't sure if it would balance well, Then, I was re-reading my old 4th edition Gamma World, and realized it did basically the same thing. I'll try and use 3e terms for describing my system... When earning an increase to BAB, rather...

Ars Magica Magus in a D&D 3E Game

I think the Sovereign Stone RPG, and the magical supplement they put out for it (Codex Mysterium, or some such) might provide some good guidelines for developing the type of Magus you're after. molahs ;)

    Rarely used rules

Oh... I think there would be plenty of conflict! ;) Anyway, I've rarely used grappling, pummeling, overbearing, etc. in any of the versions--perhaps if they ever come up with an intuitive and easily remembered system...

    Omega World: Really Fun!

    Here's a write-up of an encounter from Jonathan Tweet's website... http://home.attbi.com/~jontweet/jotgamesd20gamma.html

    Omega World: Really Fun!

I've always wanted to try this, but never got around to it. The closest I ever came was one adventure where a group of AD&D characters were temporarily transported there. Speaking of mutants and magic... What was the name of that adventure for Paranoia that incorporated magic, orcs, etc...

    Omega World: Really Fun!

"Androids look like Pure Strain Humans..." p.22 1st Edition Gamma World One thing I really like about Tweet's treatment, he seems to have re-captured the old 1e wild & wahoo feel--I can't wait to play a game of this :)

    Omega World: Really Fun!

Gospog-- You're talking about "Undefined Feats" right? I agree that they are a good idea--as a matter of fact, it would work well for the Ranger's favored enemy as well. I was thinking that the reserve HPs would be the way to go for a heroic campaign though. Have you tried this particular...

    Omega World: Really Fun!

Now this is a d20 game I could enjoy! :) I always thought this genre to be one that d20 would do a good job of emulating, and have been hoping they would put something out. Hopefully the response will be positive enough that they can turn it into a full-fledged game. BTW, anyone else think...

dexterity => Agility + Coordination? Comments?

Since you brought it up... This crossed my mind the other day when glancing at the sample character sheet for the LotR RPG. Dexterity, or whatever it's called in a given system, tends to be so important that I think it would probably be a good idea to dilute it a bit by splitting it up...

Opinions on The Riddle of Steel RPG?

Sounds like it would be great for a Conan-esque campaign. I'm off to check it out today; but, I must say, between the website and your responses, you've all but sold me. Thanks :)

Opinions on The Riddle of Steel RPG?

I was wondering if any of you have played it and, if so, what your impressions are. Thanks in advance :) BTW, for those who have no idea what I'm talking about... theriddleofsteel.com It sounds intriguing.

    Impact of exploding dammage dice?

Hackmaster does something very similar, and it gives an extra 20HPs to most characters and monsters by way of compensation. In the spirit of d20, you could instead use CON, CON + STR MOD, or something similar.
