What is it about TTRPGs for YOU?

Storytelling with friends in a fantasy world of our imagination. Specifically, my friends and I are the sort of players who enjoy seeing what campaign story our DM has created/prepared and brought to the table, so we can see play that tale and see where it takes us. Our games aren't railroads...

    Aging and Gaming

I just turned 51 a couple back and I can certainly say that the older I get the more difficult I find things. For the past 15 years give or take, we jumped from D&D from D&D 3.5 to Pathfinder and it's not been a problem until the last couple years where I find I now struggle with the complexity...

D&D General Dinosaurs in your campaigns

My current campaign setting has a Lost World continent in the equatorial regions. Even so, I've always had such in previous campaign settings. Dinosaurs are cool and deserve to be in the D&D style fantasy.

    D&D 5E (2024) What's Your Experience Like with '24?

Only one session so far. I'm running Ghosts of Saltmarsh under 2024 edition. So far everyone enjoyed it. Nice simple system with just enough complexity to keep everyone happy. We're more used to Pathfinder 1st these days so getting our heads around somethings, like skills, has caused some pause...

Unique British aspects of D&D in the UK?

I agree. I'm only saying my experiences which compared to many will be more limited.

Unique British aspects of D&D in the UK?

I'm in Cambridgeshire and here it's a solo game called Pub Cricket. Pass a pub with an animal in it's name and you score a number of runs (points) on the number of limbs that animal has. Pass a pub with a royal name and you are out and have to start over. Back on topic though.. things I have...

D&D 5E (2024) Did you make up your mind about 5.24?

Yes, and I like it. Perfect set of rules for us jumping back into D&D.

Playing in Person Is Just Better (for me)

I played in an online D&D5 campaign during the pandemic and while it scratched that itch for gaming, it wasn't what I enjoyed. I prefer face to face, reading body language and the social aspects too much I think.

GMs - Do you get bored when you're a player?

That's because my RPGs are combat heavy. Even in an RP based game like the Call of Cthulhu game I am playing in, I struggle with drawn out conversations that my character is involved in.

D&D 5E (2024) Making and Selling Potions for Fun and Profit?

Thanks for your advice everyone. I think we may have just read something and perhaps assumed it works with how Pathfinder or previous editions did it.

D&D 5E (2024) Making and Selling Potions for Fun and Profit?

Yeah, I understand that. We are just making sure that we are reading it right before we jump in. I don't have my PHB to hand but we both read it in the equipment section I believe. It could be, as others have mentioned just be referring to selling mundane equipment, which is probably what I...

D&D 5E (2024) Making and Selling Potions for Fun and Profit?

Firstly, apologies if this is a topic that has been asked previously or covered somewhere on these here forums, but I've searched and found nothing. Hopefully though, you can shed some light on our query. So, in a couple weeks I start to run my first D&D campaign in 1 years (we skipped 4th and...

D&D 5E (2024) Set ups for tables where not everyone can purchase the book?

I've purchased two copies of the new PHB. One for me as the DM, and one that players can use during the game.

    D&D General Dragon Spells?

I decide what spells I want the dragon to have based on it's colour, alignment, personality and other adventure or campaign specific requirements.

D&D 5E (2024) Experienced DMs, how useful is the 2024 DMG to you?

Once I get my hands on it, it will be very useful, just like every previous DMG I've ever owned. It will be something I can read over again and again, stirring the imagination and giving me ideas for upcoming adventures or campaigns.

Let's build a setting, one post at a time.

On the equator sits the tropical continent of Xandahaal. A lush rainforest covers most of this land mass, inhabited by giant reptiles found nowhere else on the planet. Strangely, it is believed by many scholars and loremasters, that Xandahaal is actually an artificial continent and is not native...

GMs - Do you get bored when you're a player?

This! 100%. People do seem to forget that role-playing isn't amateur dramatics. As a DM and as a player, I want to get on with the story not sit there while players talk in-character to every NPC.
