    Power sources. What's the point?

I think it would be neat to run a "classless" D&D, whereby players select powers for their PC from one power source (rather than a class list of powers), with multiclass training feats opening up new power sources. Then, things would get really interesting, and still be ostensibly just as balanced.

Poll: Do you have the books already?

Suuuure would be nice to have some digital backups of books I don't have yet... ;)

    Challenging Challenge Ratings...again

Krust, I don't even know where you GOT those numbers, let alone how the hell you made any sense of them in the first place. Just breathe easy... just over a week from now you'll be sloughing off the detritus of 3.x and moving on to what looks like much more conducive ground. ;)

Just posting to make you all jealous, I HAVE THEM

Could you tell us about Meteor Swarm? Is it in the game? Is it awesome? I second the request for Tarrasque level and rank (elite or solo).

    Grognard's First Take On 4e

Well, I'd certainly avoid it then if that's the concern. You might find something you like. ;) And for the record, I wasn't trying to be 'inflammatory'. I'm glad your line of thinking is rational, reasonable, and not some high-minded grognard aggrandizement of the older edition(s). For what...

    Grognard's First Take On 4e

Why? What benefit would you possibly gain from being so obtuse and obstinate? Does it satisfy you to feel like you're taking a firm stance on something, even if it means you're being bull-headed, willfully ignorant, and deliberately left behind? Do you thing you achieve some elusive nobility by...

Excerpt: Minions. Go forth mine minions! Bring havoc with your 1 hp [merged]

The way I see it is simple: if you're not prepared for the idea of a wizard one-shot stabbing a devil, you're not prepared for what minions are intended to be. They're the martially adept goons that Tony Jaa takes out by the dozens. They're the Foot Soldiers who get tripped by the Turtles and...

    0th level characters

I don't dislike that 'all 1st-level characters are already heroic', but I will miss my 'salt of the earth' games where we roll 3d6 down the line and take nothing but NPC class levels. 4E kinda 86s that idea with the 'heroic' approach to 1st level. But, I figure the following would probably...

    Encounters per Level

...sorry if this has already been elaborated upon, but has there been any hint or idea of how many encounters per level will be the 'norm' in 4E? Thanks, Phssthpok.

    Sequels to Successes

I think it's somewhat fallacious to assume that if one person enjoyed "the first album" that they would be turned off by the promise of higher production values on a new album. If you like a product and a new iteration of it promises to be better, only a silly person thinks "Who the hell wants a...

The Rouse Picture: Other 4E Clues?

No sir. No. Just... no, please no. King murdered his magnum opus and I beg you not to unearth it's remains from the shallow grave dug with scraps of Budweiser cans and bad plot devices. :(

4th Edition and the Immortals Handbook

Hey hey, UK! Okay, a level 6 Minion has 10 HP while a level 6 brute has over 80. Looks like a one-hit kill to me, but it's not how I said it was. PURE conjecture, am I right? No 35th-level minions have been previewed. And i strongly doubt stripping away the multiple actions/special attacks...
