4E doesn't need house rules, it needs rulings. Individual DM rulings based on the situation. This is in keeping with the tradition of D&D prior to 3E. It's the reason there is a DM in the game, and if you're not able to handle making rulings, you may want to reconsider being a DM.

I agree. I mean, I will play 4E and use the rules, but I kind of wish they'd left that type of thing more a suggestion than a fundamental part of the design. Mention it in the PHB as "some suggested playstyles by class" or whatever, sure. But hard-wiring it doesn't really seem like a good...

Yes, it's the only adventure. I'm sure there will be more online though, and let's not forget you can use any adventure in any world. Don't limit your thinking so much.

That's an excellent point, however, since I DM a group that's smaller than the recommended five PCs, it would be nice to have more low level (1st) monsters. A whole lot of new or converted monsters have sprung up online already though, so it's not too bad.

Turn based, tactical combat. Although there is room for multiple games of different types.
