Which race WILL you be playing?

Human, unless something else in the rules really grabs me. I am usually the DM, but when I play I like humans.

    KotS Healing Potions

I think you really have to forget previous healing ideas to understand 4E, but it is cool. The healing surge total per day is like the body's capacity for recovery. Clerics can use divine power to heal beyond this, but potions are just potions to aid in recovery. After a point, more of them...

Epic quests that don't involve saving the world?

I'd imagine the nature of the epic quest depends on the campaign tone and the style of the DM, and thus the PC's previous exploits. Save-the-world (or universe) quests might be appropriate for one game, while lesser scale "epics" fit with others. The rules might imply or state that the more...

    Stirge Art

I like the art a lot, but it is sort of silly to give a stirge such a Muppet-y face. Unless the new Monster Manual description explains it's intelligence and need for a mouth. I'd be happier if it had totally black eyes or insect eyes, and no mouth, naturally.

What class will be your first?

I'll likely be the DM for quite a while, but I'll make a Fighter first, as a test character. And I'll play a Fighter as soon as I have the chance. To me, adventure = lots of fighting, and heroes = warrior types.

    Dark Sun

I also think 4E and Dark Sun are a perfect match, and it's the setting I most want to see released. Make it so, WotC! Since I know they'd never do a total reboot of the setting's timeline, I would like to see time advanced sufficiently that Athas has come full circle and is more-or-less back...

D&D 4E 4e playtest report...my effort to convert our group

You know, archery is named that because the firer can make the arrow go in an arc... over people's heads... to hit targets further away. Why is there this perception among many gamers that they have to fire "through" people to hit someone behind them?

    Daily Art Preview

The Kruthiks art doesn't really look finished. Reminds me of one of the intermediate steps you'd see in a digital art tutorial. :) As a rough styled piece, it is fine... just seems less polished than the others we've seen previewed. I really like the worg, though. Again, 4E is challenging...

price of H1 Keep on the Shadowfell

This is true, but I don't see why changing the rulebook release dates had to affect H1. Clearly it was ready (or was planned to be) last month. I'm sure it looked good on paper for it to come out the month before the PHB, but judging by the excitement level of players online, H1 would have...

price of H1 Keep on the Shadowfell

I tend to buy the first adventure of a new edition, just to see how they put it together and handled the rules. It will be a good example for making my own 4E stuff, plus I like the premise of the scenario. I do think that it would have been smarter to release it a month or two ago, however...

    cracking the power code

The designers of 4E flat-out stated that they worked out all the mathematics first, then wrote the game to fit. Furthermore, this is the first edition of the D&D game to have done it in that order. Now, that doesn't prove they used a point-based system for powers, but I would assume that...

D&D 4E Character conversion problems for 4e (Short Essay)

There are far better games than D&D for playing non-combatants. And frankly, if someone told me they created a pacifist character for a D&D game I was running I'd tell them it wasn't allowed. I mean, really! If you insist on playing non-combat D&D, I'm sure you're imaginative enough to make...

    Solo Adventures?

Wouldn't this be easily addressed as long as you keep in mind the character's role and level when selecting monsters? I thought 4e was balanced that way. I'm expecting the rulebooks will make it clear how to run games for one PC.

    Dragonbon are?

Has it been stated as fact that they can reproduce biologically?

First house rule: Tieflings have small horns

Yeah, all fantasy races should just be normal humans with extremely minor cosmetic differences! It's less silly!

    Why rename HP & Saves?

I think the names are fine, and I doubt WotC is going to change them, at least not for the next decade or so. :) Hit points in 4e do what they have always done, regardless of what some people may have falsely believed HP represented over the years. Saving Throws actually have changed but...

    Down to At-Wills

I agree with Kzach. Also, I don't think this will be a problem for anyone once the full rulebooks are out and the game can be understood in it's entirety. Why judge it based on a very limited demo adventure consisting of a few combats, played by people who are not fully familiar with the rules...

    D&D 4E Is 4E retro?

All I really feel in this regard is that 4e is going back to some core concepts of D&D. The 3e designers moved away from certain elements that they, for whatever reason, thought were bad or outdated concepts. 4e designers seem to be recognizing that the original concepts actually worked, and...

    Minion Status: Private or Public?

I've never encountered this "sit in the corner for 4 hours" concept in 1e. Typically players will roll up another PC (remember when that only took a few minutes?) and jump right back in as soon as possible... even in Tomb of Horrors. Is it possible you're using your own bad experiences to make...
