    D&D 5E (2014) Lost Mine - Wyvern Tor

I was reading through LMoP the other day, and had a few vague thoughts about how to expand it ( If I ever get to DM this module... sigh...) I have some fantasy art on my laptop that shows a small village clustered around a ruined tower. Got me thinking... Old Owl Well is a fairly recent...

D&D 5E (2014) What OGL 5E products are you the most interested in?

I voted for Stand-alone adventures, with full campaign adventure paths coming in second. Background material would be third place (Maps! History! Current events!), with splat books coming in last place, huffing and puffing at the corner of Never and Stop Ruining It! I'd rather more ideas...

    D&D 5E (2014) Wizards Should Hire Paizo

I agree with the push for some "sandbox" adventures. I would happily play for some small adventures I could use as stand alone sessions, or work into a larger campaign. I am a lot less excited to pay for things that are essentially system bloat.

D&D 5E (2014) You Roll Low, Nothing Happens. Can this/should this be changed?

In combat a low roll is a miss. You shot wide of your mark, your sword whiffed throw empty air where the goblin once stood, your magical whatever fizzled out. You were ineffective, and as a result, nothing happens. I don't see how that's a problem.

D&D 5E (2014) Do you allow adult situations in your games?

Mentioning that it occurs or "hand-waving" it is fine with me "and the rogue gets dragged off to the back room by an enthusiastic, and burly, half-orc barmaid. The next morning, you set off..." . The "wink and a nod" approach is probably the best way. Alluding to adult situations in a scene is...

D&D 5E (2014) The free online crunch: I don't think it's going to be as much as we think it is.

I agree. I'm reading through some issues of Dungeon on pdf, that I got from a friend. I think it's a good model; adventure paths, one-shots, ideas on campaign building, etc. I'd gladly pay for a subscription if they started it back up.

D&D 5E (2014) What is my best bet for some cheap, decent miniatures?

Seconded on those Pathfinder pawns. My groups DM has the NPC and Monster Codex boxes, and they're great. Nice artwork, lots of variety, a lot less 'bulky' than miniatures. I was pretty set on starting a collection of cheap, pre-painted mini's for a long time until I started playing with these...

    D&D 5E (2014) Edition Wars, WHY?

Some people enter niche hobbies like ours for the simple love of them. Some people end up here out of a combination of self-loathing and elitism. They just want a small pond away from most other people, so they can pretend to be the big fish and "rule" their little kingdom with insults and...

    D&D 5E (2014) Which non-Realmsian setting for you?

I voted Dragonlance, simply because I had so much fun reading those books as a young teen-ager.

    D&D 5E (2014) Good Introductory 5E Adventure?

Another vote for LMoP. I bought the Starter Set as soon as it came out, and the module looks awesome. Logical progression without being railroad, lots of opportunities for sandbox stuff, lots of classic low-level game play. It also comes with a mini-PHB, a bunch of pre-gens, and some dice. For...

    D&D 5E (2014) Player wealth

Carry it around in sacks. Wear it in the form of jewelry. Bury it somewhere safe. Invest it in property, businesses, etc. Safehouses, Inn's, Strongholds. I'd rule that anyone well known, or from a well known family, can get loans from local rich folks, but at a steep rate of interest...

D&D 5E (2014) So do enough monsters have ranged attacks this editon?

Eh, depends on the monster. "Realistically" ( I know, fantasy-magic game, but hear me out)... realistically, if all the hulking big death machine beasties could ALSO peg someone with a magic missile from 3 miles out, there would be almost no humanoid life left in (Faerun, Krynn, etc). Rushing...

D&D 5E (2014) Lets Discuss Feats. Do you like them? Plus, some questions!

Honestly, I'll probably house rule it so that Grappler and Tavern Brawler are the same feat.

D&D 5E (2014) The nontraditional classes as enemies

I think they were fairly low-level, since we were ourselves at the time.

D&D 5E (2014) The nontraditional classes as enemies

My groups DM threw a couple of raging barbs at us one session. Pretty fun. I like the idea of the non-traditional enemies. Maybe the PC's meet up with an Evil adventuring Party. Evil Half-Elf Bard, Evil Halfling Rogue, Evil Drizz't Clone, Evil Cleric Healbot.

So What's In The New DM Screen?

I like the look of the screen, and some of the tables are nice. Not sure I'd buy it, though. Honestly, if I could buy the same screen, with see-through plastic "holders" (for lack of a better term) that would allow me to print and customize whatever tables I wanted to use in that...

    D&D 5E (2014) Plot ideas

Get the starter set and play Lost Mine of Phandelver. I have it, and I'm itching for the chance to DM it.

D&D 5E (2014) EXP options That we use.

This is the way my DM does it, and I honestly prefer it over any method. I'd much rather make it to a 'milestone' and be told to level up than be awarded bits and pieces of xp over ever goblin I stomp and barmaids arse I pinch. Too much mucking around with the char sheet, not enough...

D&D 5E (2014) The fall from grace of the longsword

I like 5e's weapons tables the way they are. There's enough flavor for those who nerd out on tactics ( Me, largely) but there's enough simplicity to make it accessible to newbies. Honestly, if a group would rather have more "realistic" weapons effects, they wouldn't be that hard to house-rule...

D&D 5E (2014) Players Killing Players for stupid reason

I think you can get around a lot of these scenarios by working the new player character into the story in better ways. The PC's discover him tied up in a goblin lair, the players are introduced to her by their patron, etc. "You are approached by an axe-wielding half-orc barbarian on a dark and...
