what does "-" mean in various line entries in monster manual(s) stat blocks?

well, this came up again about the old argument as to whether psicrystals advance and gain hd, and thus feats and skill points, and be eligible for class levels. the arguments for this are that they have hit dice which is = master's so it technically grows, have int score, and the monster...

Effects of aging vs youth-restoring magic

quite so. i meant more that it would be appropriate for longer lived races to gain more age bonuses/penalties than shorter lived races.

what does "-" mean in various line entries in monster manual(s) stat blocks?

I have noticed that several places there is a "—" for the entry in a given line for different monsters in various books, monster manuals and other listings for monsters. My understanding of this was that it means a "non-ability". For example, when it is listed in place of an ability score, it...

    Floating Castle

i suggest using stronghold builders guidebook. it has rules for enchanting large scale buildings complete with cost breaks for spellcasters who can do the work themselves, and other considerations. make it submersible, flying, plane hopping, earthgliding, and more. lots of fun stuff there.

    Weapon Enchantments and Monks

well, my verbiage was different, but without thinking i did once in character state that my monks body is a masterwork weapon. my exact quote? upon the dm inquiring if i was masterwork quality or not i replied: there was dead silence for a moment as everyone else in the group just looked at...

Why yes, that is an Airship in my pocket...

hmmm, i think the sail could be applied to the large version of the boat with no issues. the keel seems to be designed to be an attachable object, given that the keel of the boat is the largest part of the frame on the bottom, and the part to which all the other parts are attached and built...

    What class is this character/concept?

there is also the defiant prestige, and also that one feat that allows clerics of lost/forgotten/dead Powers to still gain spells and powers from their faith and commitment to ideals. could even make the npc divine rank 0 which would handle the aging issue, and allow them to have some custom...

Effects of aging vs youth-restoring magic

generally speaking, any effect which ends in the result of moving from one age category to another incurs the change in stats, regardless of direction of movement, unless the effect specifically states otherwise. i was fond of the potion of immortality which detailed its affects on the aging...

    Raw Materials and Gems

hmmmm, you remind me of the resource maps in the forgotten realms campaign setting book. there are also such real world maps in pretty much any decent set of encyclopedias. here is one online example: Natural Resources Maps here's a search that turned up an interesting timeline of natural...

Poll: Minotaur or Large Goatfolk? (Please read before voting)

do note that if you take the goat choice at the level given, you will have to take class levels to buy off the la, not hd levels. once you have done so, however, you can then take the hd levels without any further la. the la for the larger form (which has to be calc'ed iirc?) is only for...

    D&D 3.x D&D 3.5 Weather: Lightning

i guess my source link in my post earlier was overlooked, as it lead to the page on the national weather service with the exact sources and numbers. =P then again, i'm kinda lazy, so i don't always follow links either. ^^

    Ressurrection flavored Feats/PrC's?

there is the touchstone feat, which will grant you a free resurrection, as well as the sandshaper prestige which will also res you, if you are buried in the sand... i've had two characters die and come out altered... i just sat down with the dm and chatted about what i thought would be cool...

D&D 3.x Vote for your favorite core Class!!! (3.5)

^^ well taken points. and yes, i do link new players to the srd. people appreciate being able to learn and/or play a game without having to fork over cash to do so. i also give them a list of "read in this order" to walk them through the srd. and my contact info for questions. not to mention...

    Heal Check question

the skill rules do not even address what happens on a failure, except on an individual basis within each skill, and not all of those either. heal is one where the only thing regarding failure is in the 'try again' section, where it says that you may try again, assuming that the patient is still...

    touch attacks and rays

yeah, deathwand crossbow from the arms and equipment guide. both wands are considered "wielded" along with the crossbow. you can fire off any one of the three as per normal action / attack rules. they just all three count as "wielded". would be an odd accompaniment to a dual wielding wand type...

    D&D 3.x D&D 3.5 Weather: Lightning

i've been zapped through a window by a near miss with a lightning bolt. it didn't help that my one hand was on the metal lip of the window trying to shut it, metal frame too... my other hand was on a floor fan up on a desk, which was plugged in and turned on. i was trying to turn it off. cue...

i suggest managing to pick up drunken master... then you can use anything (or anyone) as an improvised weapon... and get your unarmed damage added on to boot. ^^

    Saving throw question

regardless of logic, and i do happen to think it logical that the net would be protected, but the rules do not support it. the net is the equipment of the caster, not the victim. if the caster is no longer holding it (and nets have a line by which they can be held/controlled even after tossing...
