    Are Ghosts Real? (a poll)

Yes. I realize last night that a good companion question would be “How important is your answer to you?” For me, it’s not very important at all. The world is full of things that I personally have no explanation for, and even that the experts have no explanation for, yet. I have confidence that...

    Are Ghosts Real? (a poll)

Lots of other things are in this condition, too. If you’ve been in love more than once, the experiences probably had some very distinct differences in feeling, but is not feasible (at this point, at least) to render them into anything testable and confirmable. Qualia are really annoying that...

    Does Anyone Care? (Cosmere RPG)

I think a lot of regularly playing rolegamers vastly underestimate the halo of people who have games, may game occasionally, and could game more regularly if something hooked them. I know that among both queer communities and disabled communities, there are a lot of nerds who look forward to...

What are your thoughts on roll-under/roll-high mechanics?

I’m warming to it gradually. It’s not my favorite, but it works, and when it’s part of an overall good system, I don’t really have significant complaints.

    Does Anyone Care? (Cosmere RPG)

Much thanks! And, um, it’s not like I’m a stranger to imperfect posting, let us say.

    Does Anyone Care? (Cosmere RPG)

Could people please do a little more spelling checking? Several messages have been genuinely incomprehensible thanks to having no solid idea what key words might be.

    Are Ghosts Real? (a poll)

I would pick an “I don’t know” option. My evaluation of others’ experiences is conflicted enough that I don’t feel comfortable picking either Yes or No.

Where’s David Cronenberg’s Scanners Roleplaying Game? Part One

Some of us trawled the shelves, found the direct-to-video sequels, and put them back, because we respect safety protocols for handling dangerous materials, and because life is too short for movies guaranteed to compare unfavorably to watching wallpaper fade in sunlight when it comes to...

What are you reading in 2025?

I love both those books. Just fascinating.

dumb premise for a game - Medieval Aliens

For. Wildly different sort of story, there’s Eifelheim, by Michael Flynn. It has two storylines. In the modern day, an interdisciplinary research group pokes at the mystery of how one particular German town got isolated just before the Black Death. The other takes place in the 1340s, as we see...

The doctor says they’re as harmless as freckles on your skin.

    Today I learned +

Your retinas can have freckles and birthmarks. (My caregiver and I had our annual eye exams today. I don’t have any such retinal features, but she does.)

What are you reading in 2025?

It’s true. But wow is it hard to live up to in practice sometimes. I’m trying to cultivate the discipline of knowing when it’s time to stop talking. My success is, um, partial. :)

Where’s David Cronenberg’s Scanners Roleplaying Game? Part One

Cronenberg was a definite influence on Trinity 1st edition - I’m not the only fan who worked on it. He was part of the mix for Trinity Continuum 2nd edition, too.

What are you reading in 2025?

I haven’t yet read Harry Turtledove’s Supervolcano trilogy, but looks to be that. If you’re up for seeing the whole planet destroyed, Greg Bear’s The Forge Of God is just the thing. It starts with the discovery of a mysterious new cinder cone in Deatj Valley, and escalates.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Taking some days off for family stuff. I’d say “be good”, but let’s be realistic. Be interesting. :)
