    Alchemy...Too Expensive?

Hunh? I don't see it. Would you care to point out where this conclusion comes from?

    Alchemy...Too Expensive?

This got a good laugh from my gaming group.

    KOTOR vs. Force Unleashed

I think that the KOTOR book might be better for players, as it gives access to a lot of good species for player characters that, except for three or four cases, survive to the Rebellion era. Plus the feats and other character options will generally carry over.

Earthdawn - 4e or original rules?

I think ED RAW, since the great thing about ED is that the system reflects the metaphysics of the game. You do things by weaving threads, or by spending karma or legend in a way that relates the game system to the world actions.

    1st level DnD adventures

I honestly think that this edition needs very few first level adventures. It is really easy to convert adventures from other systems and populate them with new encounter groups. You might miss out on the cool terrain features available from a 4E adventure, but at first level, especially when...

    A flaw in the system

This is fine, except it goes against the inbuilt characteristics of daily powers that they either a) always have an effect or b) are "Reliable". Daily powers are never wasted, they are just sometimes less effective than at other times.

    Tiefling w/ non-tiefling siblings.

I have a thread in my campaign where two human parents have a tiefling son. Of course, something strange must have happened, but so far in the isolated community, few people know the reality of the tiefling bloodline.

[LPJDesign] 4th Edition Compatible logo created for support of 3rd Party Publishers

I can't be the only person to be confounded by this. Hunh? What does it mean for this to be "deleted" as it says on the main page, or "removed" from RPGNow/DTRPG? Does this mean that no product carrying this logo will be carried there?

Running a 4E campaign with limited prep time

One thing that you should maybe do is photocopy for yourself, or write them out, the various suggested combat encounters from the DMG. Then do the same with the tables of monsters at the back of the MM. This makes throwing together a combat encounter much quicker, whether you're doing it on the...

D&D 4E Anyone know if KQ is going 4e?

I'm just upset this thread isn't about King's Quest.

Looking for Earliest Surviving RPG Recordings...

Of course, the recordings mentioned are older than the D&D session recorded, in part, in the 1982 movie E.T. (Sure, a fictional source.) I find it difficult to believe that nobody recorded a game session on their own before that. Someone must have a recorded session in their attic comewhere.

More AP experiences with D&D 4e?

I can say that in the two sessions I've ran for our old 3.5/SWd20 group, we have gone through a staggering amount of encounters. In one session, we had character creation, a little setting review, a fight against goblins, a meeting with a group of elves, a big fight against goblins over a...

Should NPCs Have to Follow the Same Rules as PCs?

But, in what I've seen so far in running the game, all the things that non-magical creatures do in 4E seem to be easily explainable as things that some martial class character can do at some point, though usually something at a slightly higher level and, then the PCs do it, much more...

Old Adventures You're Thinking of Converting?

I recommend "Race Against Time" by Kent Ertman from issue 81. This adventure is all about the skill challenges! And it has a real time limit on play--the PCs have three hours of session time to solve the riddles of where a number of "bombs" are hidden, minus the time it takes for their PCs to...

Me neither. I think you're a fluffy bunny.

    Old Master Bug List.

Yeah, the Story Hour Index is now almost completely gimped.

    Scimitar

Posting a link is of little help, since the website may be down or people here may not be able to see that site for various reasons. Indeed, I think that was a downright rude response. Since the page you linked to does not open, I'm going to have to assume that anyone who would ask such a...

Feeling short changed by 4th Ed.

I have yet to run a game above 1st level, and already this statement is absolutely ludicrous given what we have actually played so far.

Worldbuilding, nonhumans, and the inaccurarcy of Earth parallels

Someone who is interested in this topic should take a look at Jared Diamond's Guns, Germs & Steel. There he lays out pretty well what is required for a civilization to advance to a number of different levels and a number of different technologies. One could use this book and its ideas in a game...
